E.ON Westfalen Weser Energie-Service GmbH improves plant management at the central Info Center Energy Management Suite Reference Instrumentation, Controls & Electrical SPPA-M3000 Plant Management acquires the data of all plants operated by E.ON Westfalen Weser Energie-Service GmbH locally and processes them at the central Info Center. The plant management system thereby significantly enhances the overview capability and the status of all plants. The Result ■ Reduced costs due to lower training, administration and maintenance costs ■ Increased efficiency due to significantly better commitment planning ■ High degree of acceptance due to ease of operation and expansion capability The Plant E.ON Westfalen Weser Energie-Service GmbH is a wholly-owned subsidiary of E.ON Westfalen Weser AG, a large German regional utility company with its headquarters in Paderborn. The company operates a combined-cycle power plant at Kirchlengern as a power reserve which can be activated within minutes. A large number of distributed generation plants are operated and monitored along with E.ON Westfalen Weser AG from the same location. Fault management is also handled from here. The Task In order to ensure optimized plant commitment planning, the responsible shift managers at the Info Center must be informed at all times about current commitment planning, about error and completion messages for the individual plants, etc. This requires accurate on-site data conditioning and the compilation of all information in adequate form at the control center. Another objective, in addition to greater planning reliability, was reduced training and maintenance costs. Our Solution The decentralized Plant Management System has been acquiring operational data at the various locations for years. This local information has now been compiled and displayed centrally on a screen at the Info Center. This means that information from all plants is available online around the clock. Commitment planning and work monitoring can be performed by the central commitment planner at the Info Center. System expansion is possible fast and without any additional development costs. "Plant management has proven to be exceptionally successful. It is simple to use and gives the shift managers at the Info Center precisely the information they require for optimized plant monitoring."
