MEMORANDUM Date: April 25, 2013 To: Vice Presidents, Deans, Department Heads Cc: HR Liaisons From: El pagnier K. Hudson, M.S. Assistant Vice President of Human Resources ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Subject: Classification & Compensation Redesign Project _________________________________________________________________________________________________ In an effort to ensure optimal efficiency as well as uninterrupted progress during the position description review period of the Classification & Compensation Redesign Project (CCRP), the Steering Committee has approved a moratorium on certain position actions for a limited period of time. This will be a labor-intensive phase of the project and therefore, our goal is to enable the project team to focus on the renovation efforts that must be completed to maintain Project milestones and timelines. As indicated in the communication of April 15, supervisors should review and update (where necessary) the position descriptions of each of their direct reports in the PantherSoftHR system. This is a critical timeframe within the scope of the CCRP where all administrative and staff position descriptions are being reviewed and finalized for the redesign of FIU’s new classification structure. In order to facilitate the completion of this labor-intensive part of the project, the temporary moratorium on a narrow group of actions will commence May 17, 2013 through September 17, 2013. The affected actions include: Reclassifications Updates to Position Descriptions Pay Plan Changes Added Duties Degree Waivers Prior to the moratorium, department heads and HR Liaisons should review all pending ePRF actions for determination to either submit the action to Compensation Administration or withdraw the action. This will be necessary in order for supervisors to update positions. Please contact the Compensation Administration Office for assistance in clearing any pending actions. Our goal is to clear all pending ePRF actions to make way for the updated position descriptions. The following actions will not be impacted by the moratorium: Positions that are “mission-critical,” approved and recommended by the unit head to the Vice President of Human Resources Evaluations of position descriptions for new or vacant positions required for recruitment Salary actions in the best interest of the University related to the hiring and retention of employees For further information concerning the Project, please refer to the CCRP website at hr.fiu.edu/ccrp. Thank you in advance for helping us to successfully complete this major initiative and move FIU Worlds Ahead.
