Subject:
Classification & Compensation Redesign Project – TRAINING
As you know, the Classification & Compensation Redesign Project (CCRP) is well underway. This is a major project
for the University and it is essential that we continue to manage it in a strategic and deliberate manner. Upon
completion, we will have a classification and compensation system that aligns with industry best practices.
The first phase of the project is the creation of a new classification structure. The foundation of a successful
classification and compensation program is to confirm that all administrative and staff position descriptions
accurately reflect the duties and responsibilities currently being performed by employees. Your participation in
this part of the project is critical to the project’s success.
Supervisors should review and update (where necessary) the position descriptions of each of your direct reports in
the PantherSoftHR system. In order to accomplish this, the Division of Human Resources is offering training
sessions to facilitate the process of accessing position descriptions and assisting you with the process.
Our deans and vice presidents strongly endorse this important initiative, including the training required of
managers and supervisors. Please contact your unit’s HR Liaison to assist with identifying which training session to
attend. The HR Liaisons will be attending training sessions along with you during this time period to ensure that all
position descriptions within the units have been reviewed and accurately reflect current responsibilities.
Training sessions begin on Monday, April 22 and conclude Friday, May 17, 2013. Morning sessions begin at 9:00
a.m. and afternoon sessions begin at 1:00 p.m. in Room W6 on the Modesto A. Maidique Campus. Session content
includes: (1) Introduction to the Classification and Compensation Redesign Project, (2) Introduction to the ePRF
(modified version), (3) Updating Duties and Responsibilities, and (4) Creating a New Job Summary.
Please take time to visit the CCRP website to remain informed of the project’s status. Thank you in advance for
your enthusiasm and total cooperation with this project as well as your continued support to help make FIU
Worlds Ahead.
