The Task
Even though the power plant is otherwise in
good condition, obsolete converter technology
for electric drives becomes a risk factor for
operation of the plant, for example, because it
is no longer supported by the manufacturer.
As frequency converters age, the risk grows that
the manufacturer will no longer provide full
sup-port. In the event of a fault, it may be hard
to find suitable spare parts and personnel
trained in the old technology. The remedy is
replacement with modern drive systems.
Our Solution
Siemens replaces obsolete converter systems
with the latest technology – regardless of the
original manufacturer, drive system concept,
or application. Modern frequency converters
not only boost plant efficiency and availability,
but also upgrade your plant with state-of-the-art
features – especially improved self-diagnostics,
simple parameterization, and integration into
the unit I&C, greater resistance to harmonics
and system disturbances, and reduced reactions
on the system due to the converter itself.
The portfolio is flexible and scalable from the
smallest to the largest application – for both
the low- and medium-voltage levels. Even high
mechanical and hydraulic equipment that consume high amounts of energy for speed setting
of pumps and blowers can be replaced by economical drive systems with frequency converters. Thus payback times can be as short as one
year.
