The Task
When a defective component in an electrical,
field or I&C system causes or threatens to
trigger a plant stoppage, the operator must be
confident that the spare parts urgently needed
will be made available quickly. An extensive
local store is therefore often maintained,
involving considerable effort and expense yet
without fully ruling out the risk of spare parts
being unavailable.
