Directions on using the FVS_DB_LINK utility Providetheutilitythreepiecesofinformation:
1. ThedirectorytostoretheFVS‐readyfiles.
2. AdefaultFVSvariant.
3. ThenameofthelistthatcontainstheFSVegSettingIDsyouwanttodownload.
1)SelectingyourTargetDirectory.
a) Click“SelectTargetDirectory”button.
b) Navigatetoaprojectfoldertostoreyourdata,orcreateonenow.

If,afterselectingatargetdirectoryinFVS_DB_LINK,thewindowfreezes(i.e.,clicking
on“OK”doesn’tdoanythinganditlooksliketheprogramstopsdeadinitstracks),
thenyouareopening,ratherthanselecting,thefolderofinterest.
Forexample,ifthetargetfolderis“test_FVS_input_files”andthensingle‐clickthatitemand
itwilllooklikethis:
Atthispoint,click“OK”toproceed.
However,ifyoudouble‐clickthatfolder,itwill“open”—andthentheprocesswillappearto
freeze.

strategicgridinventorydatafromStatelandsorCountylandsadjacenttoyourForest.The
defaultFVSvariantisonlyassignedtodataintheSettingIDlistthatdoesnotcontaina
RegionandForestnumber.
