TIJ101 - Exploring Technologies - This package of (3) technical disciplines will include Machine Shop, Construction and Automotive. TMJ 101 - Exploring Technologies - This package of (3) technical disciplines will include Technical design, Woodworking and Welding. Students will rotate every six weeks to a new shop with a different teacher who has expertise in that particular area. Students will explore, through hands-on projects, various aspects of each are preparing them to make wise choices regarding technical courses to pursue in Grade 10. For the best experience, students should consider taking both TIJ 10 and TMJ 10. The courses are usually scheduled so that one choice occurs in each semester. ICS 3C/U - Computer Science Students will gain knowledge and skills in computer programming by creating solutions for both application and games. Concepts will be developed through lessons and hands-on programming, both individually and in teams. TTJ 2O1 - Transportation Technology This course introduces students to automotive theory and hands on experience, by developing problem-solving skills and performing regular vehicle maintenance. Students will gain awareness of environmental and social issues related to the automotive industry and will discover postsecondary career opportunities TDJ 2O1 - Technological Design This course introduces students to design, technical drawing and problem solving skills. Students will learn how to draw floor plans, create structures and design 3D computer models TFJ 201 - Hospitality and Tourism (Cooking) This hands on course provides students with practical culinary skills in the areas of baking, safe food handling techniques, health and safety standards, and the use of specialized tools and equipment. $30 covers materials TGJ 201 - Communications Technology Students gain practical skills in radio broadcasting and computer graphic design. Projects involve creating radio shows, animations, posters, and Web sites. Impacts of technology and related career option will also be explored. ICS 4C/U - Computer Science Students will further develop their programming skills through creating solutions individually and in teams. TFJ 3C1 - Hospitality and Tourism (Cooking) This is a practical course located in both our commercial kitchen and bakeshop areas. Students will prepare various food and baked products on a daily basis that are sold throughout the school $30 covers materials. OR TFJ 3CD - Hospitality and Tourism a TWO CREDIT PROGRAM - $30 covers materials. TGJ 3M1- COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY Students develop practical skills in audio and video production, computer graphic design, and desktop publishing. Activities include: creating radio and television programs, Photoshop, animations and graphics for print and the web. Prerequisite: TTJ3C TDJ 4M1 - Technological Design PREREQUISITE: TDJ 3M1 Using the skills learned in TDJ 3M1, students will be able to focus on the design disciplines of their choice: architectural, mechanical, or civil, in order to prepare for future careers in design technology or just for general insterst. A teacher/student meeting will take place during the first week to set up an individual plan. TFJ 4C1 - Hospitality and Tourism (Cooking) This is a hands on based course that builds on practical food preparation skills as well as reinforces knowledge and understanding in the Hospitality and Tourism industry. $30 covers materials.
