Students will analyze various leadership techniques and study various issues such as ethics in business, social responsibility, management of group dynamics, uses of information technology, workplace stress and conflict, motivation of employees, and globalization. Students will also investigate the management of a diverse workforce within an organization and the importance of strategic planning. Overall Curriculum Expectations: Issues Facing Organizations Evaluate the significance of new trends in management theory; Analyze how companies respond to internal and external pressures for change; Analyze North American organizational concepts from a global perspective; Demonstrate an understanding of ethics and social responsibility; Assess the role of a manager within the structure of an organization and the variety of career opportunities available. Organizational Leadership Apply theories of human behaviour to understand how individuals and groups function in the workplace; Apply teamwork and group dynamics to carry out projects and solve problems; Demonstrate the use of proper leadership techniques in a variety of situations; Demonstrate the use of appropriate communication techniques related to business management; Evaluate the strategies used by individuals and organizations to manage stress and conflict.
