Of course, we’ll have some. Spring 2012 Schedule Date Presenter Topic Description Week 2: April 18 Lorelle VanFossen Integrating Podcasting into Your Online Lifestyle Want your own show on the web? Long time expert in podcasting and multimedia publishing, Lorelle VanFossen, will show you how to integrate your own video diary, webisode, or audio podcast into your business or social web life to create your own "show" on the web. Bring your lunch and learn tips on how to create and release audio and video faster. If you have a digital microphone or video camera (with USB connection), bring it along and we'll put it to work. Week 3: April 25 Lori Wamsley Money! Money! Money! Do you have trouble keeping track of where your money goes? Not sure what a 401(k) is? Trying to figure out if you can afford to buy a new car or home? Wondering why you should care about your credit report? April is Financial Literacy Month, so this 30 Clicks session will show you free web tools to help you become more financially savvy. Week 4: May 2 Hannah Erickson Social Media Is your unit or department considering starting its own Facebook page Best Practices or Twitter feed? Do you already have one? Then this workshop is for you. Hannah Erickson, who manages Clark’s main Facebook and Twitter accounts, will give tips on time management, FERPA hazards, Terms of Service, records retention, and other tricky issues facing anyone trying to use (or considering using) social media while representing a state institution like Clark College. Week 5: May 9 Catharine Keane Social Media and Your Job Search Please join Cath Keane for some expert tips for your online job search. She’ll show you how to use LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook to your advantage. She’ll share some professional secrets including how not to make the deadliest social media mistake. This session should be interesting for everyone, whether or not you are actively job searching. Week 6: May 16 Erika Nava Tegrity, Last term, Spanish Instructor Erika Nava introduced us to Tegrity and how she uses this video software to help enhance student learning in her classes. This program allows you to record class sessions, make tutorial videos of difficult concepts and even allows your students to make recordings. This spring Erika is attending the Tegrity Users Conference and has generously agreed to share more Tegrity skills and ideas with the campus. Tegrity is both fun and easy to use. Join us. Week 7: May 23 Wendy Clark Photo-Editing with Google Picasa Edit your photos to create wonderful images for presentations, graduation announcements, digital scrapbooks, and more – free! Crop, straighten, and remove red-eye; add borders, text, and special effects; change highlights and shadows. Picasa has tons of features and changes are easy to undo. It even organizes all your photos in one simple place, like iPhoto, with face recognition software that actually works. Week 8: May 30 Julie Austad iPad for Beginners Are you considering purchasing an iPad? Do you have one but aren’t sure what to do with it? Bring your iPad, or just yourself, and explore everything from setting up your iPad with your preferred accessories, (such as keyboards or covers) to selecting specific apps for your lifestyle. Preview some essential apps and see some just-for-fun apps. Organize your home, work, and school. Take a step towards becoming paperless. There really does seem to be an app for everything: timelapse photos, video chat, recipes, budgeting, and even apps for your cat! If you have a favorite iPad app, bring it to share! Part II
