The Application
A modern emergency response center has to be prepared to confront
a diverse set of challenges on a moments notice. Every call can
create a unique challenge to the operator who has to manage the
incident while using separate systems to access police, fire fighting
and ambulance information. The work environment challenges the
operator to enter and change data in numerous discrete systems in a
time-critical environment.
By implementing the Avocent HMX High Performance KVM system,
dispatchers can transparently access equipment housed in a
remote location, giving them the same “next-to-the-workstation”
experience they require, while removing noise and heat from their
environment. The Avocent HMX High Performance KVM solution
also allows fast failover to redundant computers from the operator’s
desk in case of an equipment malfunction or crash—a crucial feature
for emergency response centers.
In order to streamline the work environment,the Avocent® HMX
High Performance KVM solution allows dispatchers to access
multiple systems from their desks without requiring the collocation
of multiple workstations in their workspace. Workstations and other
IT equipment can be moved away from the dispatcher without
impacting their efficiency and still delivering the same transparent
experience as if the dispatcher was right next to the machine.
The Avocent HMX High Performance KVM system can be combined
with large video displays or video walls, giving operators a complete,
“at-a-glance” view of multiple informational screens. This keeps
