Cerner Student Nursing
Orientation Program
The Cerner orientation module has been created to give the student
a basic understanding of the Cerner system before starting a
clinical rotation at Legacy. This module contains information
about the LHS documentation system and systematic instructions
for navigating and charting in Cerner.
After viewing the Cerner module, the student should have an
understanding of LHS variance-based documentation system,
standards of care, know how to navigate the system, chart vital
signs, I & Os, document accountability, and chart a shift
assessment. When the student is on their unit, the preceptor will
assist them with any questions they may have.
Our requests for the instructors:
• Be familiar with the module to assist students as necessary
• Get unit specific information and review before clinical
rotation.

out updated modules annually or as changes occur.
