Office of Government Relations and Institutional Planning Mission and Goals 2010-11 The mission of the Office of Institutional Planning is to advance the College’s goals by providing comprehensive information to support institutional planning, policy formation, decision-making and evaluation of effectiveness. Organization: The Office of Institutional Planning is within the Office of the President. The Director of Institutional Planning reports to the President of the College. Clients: The Office of Government Relations clients include those internal to the institution: SUNY ESF’s President, Vice Presidents, Deans, Department Heads and faculty; and those external to the institution: SUNY Administration, NYSHED, federal agencies and accrediting bodies, other universities, the media, and the general public. Goals: To provide leadership in the College’s strategic planning process. To provide reliable and valid data and information to College constituents in support of decision making, policy formation and planning. To coordinate responses to external accountability mandates and a wide range of internal and external requests for information regarding the College. To serve as the central repository for archival and current student data and institutional characteristics and enhance the distribution of the institutional planning information and data. To be attuned to issues relating to the integrity of College data. To bring sustainability policy and practices to the Office of Government Relations and Institutional Planning. Assessment Goal for 2011-12 The mission of the Office of Government Relations provides collegewide leadership to develop relationships with federal, state, and local governments in order to secure support for institutional initiatives and individual research projects consistent with the College's mission and priorities. The Office of Government Relations serves as liaison for the College to elected officials, state and federal agencies and their staffs. Organization: The Office of Government Relations is within the Office of the President. The Director of Government Relations reports to the President of the College. Clients: The Office of Government Relations clients include those internal to the institution: SUNY ESF’s President, Vice Presidents, Deans, Department Heads and faculty; and those external to the institution: SUNY Administration, ESF Board of Trustees, NYS legislators, federal agencies and accrediting bodies, other universities, the media, and the general public. Goals: To help finalize securing each year’s Federal Appropriations secured in the prior year. To help secure funding through Federal Appropriations each fiscal year. To help secure funding through New York State Appropriations each fiscal year To assist in advocacy for SUNY tuition increase. To assist in securing $42M NYS support for the new Academic/Research Building. To assist in securing Home Rule Legislation in NYS to support DASNY or assist in securing other bonding vehicles for the ESF Residence Project. Organize Politician participation in College events.
