INFORMATION STATEMENT
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN in terms of section 33 of the Local Government: Municipal
Finance Act, No. 56 of 2003 that the City of Cape Town Metropolitan Municipality
(“the City”) intends entering into a contract relating to the PROVISION OF
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES IN RESPECT OF THE DEVELOPMENT, MAINTENANCE AND
REMEDIATION OF THE VISSERSHOK LANDFILL SITE. The contract will impose financial
obligations on the Municipality for a period longer than three (3) financial years.
Public Comment on the draft contract is herewith sought.
The City of Cape Town has on its annual Budget 2013/14 (as well as its multiyear (10)
expenditure plan) made provision for this project. The contract value is estimated to
be R35 million.
In June 2014 the City of Cape Town issued a tender for the Provision of Professional
Services in Respect of the Development, Maintenance and Remediation of the
Vissershok Landfill Site.
Essential components of the proposed contract are as follows:






Compilation of a site development master plan
Detailed design and compiling of specifications for the provision of
additional waste disposal cells and infrastructure
Detailed design and compiling of specifications for the remediation and
landscaping of the site
Construction monitoring and contract administration
Environmental and Health & Safety monitoring during construction phases
to ensure compliance with the construction Environmental Management
Plan
Compiling of specifications for operations and maintenance work as
required by the Solid Waste Management Department
Full details of the draft contract as set out in tender 339C/2013/14: Provision of
Professional Services in Respect of the Development, Maintenance and
Remediation of the Vissershok Landfill Site, is available on the City of Cape Town’s

public comment at the Solid Waste Management offices on the 8th floor, 38 Wale St.
Cape Town, all Sub-Council offices and Municipal Libraries until 4 September 2014.
