INFORMATION STATEMENT
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN in terms of section 33 of the Local Government:
Municipal Finance Act, No. 56 of 2003 that the City of Cape Town Metropolitan
Municipality (“the City”) intends entering a contracts relating to PROVISION OF
PROFESSIONAL PROJECT MANAGEMENT SERVICES: INTERGRATED RAPID
TRANSIT. The contract will impose financial obligations on the Municipality for a
period longer than three (3) financial years. Public Comment on the draft contract is
herewith sought.
The City of Cape Town has on its annual Budget 2014/15 (as well as its multiyear (5)
expenditure plan) made provision for this project. The contract value is estimated to
be R60 million.
In October 2014 the City of Cape Town issued a tender for the provision of
professional project management services to facilitate the further rollout of the IRT
programme. They will be responsible for the development, management and
maintenance of an overall implementation programme and related budget and cash
forecasts for the on-going rollout of the City’s Integrated Rapid Transit (IRT)
programme, and to guide the work streams and City-appointed professional teams to
deliver on these programmed rollout objectives.
The services will extend over a six-year period and will include the project
management of all activities associated with the on-going development and
commissioning of the IRT system, and regular reviews and reporting on progress.

It is also available for inspection and public comment at all Sub-Council offices and
Municipal Libraries.
