Essential oils are the life-blood of the plant; much like our blood is the life-blood of our body. Essential oils are distilled from flowers, seeds, roots, bushes, leaves, shrubs, and trees. It often requires an entire plant or more to produce a single drop of distilled essential oil. Essential oils are very complex, containing hundreds of different and unique chemical compounds. The chemical structure of essential oils is similar to that of human cells and tissues. This makes essential oils compatible with human protein and enables them to readily be identified and accepted by the body. The molecular structure of essential oils is relatively small, which gives them the ability to easily penetrate cell walls spreading them throughout the blood and tissues. That is why when topically applied, essential oils can travel throughout the body in a matter of minutes. Essential Oils are in every cell of your body within 21 minutes. Once I started using Young Living Essential Oils, I found that they not only smelled better but they also worked better. http://seedtoseal.com/en Post #8 Upload picture- post #8 One of my favorite things to use Young Living Essential Oils for is to get a good night’s sleep. According to the National Sleep Foundation, 62% of adults in the USA experience a sleep problem at least a few nights a week. 40 million people have a chronic sleep disorder and U.S employers lose an estimated $18 billion year each because of a loss in productivity due to sleep loss issues. We all know that it is recommend we get at least 8 hours of sleep each night. But I have found that quality of sleeps is also very important. Comment here and tell us how your life has improved from using essential oils to be entered to will a jar of sleepy time bath salts. Post #9 Upload picture- post #9 Everyone raves about Cedarwood for sleep. Cedarwood stimulates the limbic region of the brain (the center of emotions) and stimulates the pineal gland (which releases melatonin). Terry Friedmann, MD, found in clinical tests that this oil may also help ADD and ADHD in children. It is recognized for its calming, purifying properties. Cedarwood is also know to enhance your dreams, often causing them to become more vivid. Because of this… Cedarwood is not recommended for people to have night terrors. Jamie’s Personal Story: My husband and I always thought we were getting a good night’s sleep UNTIL we started diffusing Cedarwood in our bedroom at night. Within 10 minutes (in all honesty it’s probably closer to 5) of turning the diffuser on we are asleep and typically do not wake up in the middle of the night. There have been numerous mornings where I wake up BEFORE my alarm clock goes off, feeling refreshed! We LOVE to diffuse this oil with peace and calming (our personal favorite nighttime combination), but we have also diffused it with lavender or thieves. If I had to pick ONE oil to suggest to people to diffuse to help get a better night’s sleep this would be THE oil, hands down! Post #10 Upload picture- post #10 Rutavala is an essential oil blend made up of Ruta, Valerian, and Lavender. Although the Ruta gaveolens herb itself, or even water extracts from the herb, can have negative side effects at very high doses, the steam distilled essential oil of Ruta is GRAS (generally regarded as safe) by the FDA. Ruta oil is not very relaxing to the body and mind but also rebalancing to the body. When coupled with valerian and lavender ( both of which are known for their sedative properties, this blend becomes both relaxing and revitalizing to the entire body, while calming stressed nerves and inducing a better quality of sleep. Deanna’s Personal StoryFor the most part Cedarwood does the trick for me at night. But for the times that I am worried or stressed about something I find that Rutavala works better. I prefer to buy the roll-on and will roll it on my temples, back of my neck, and wrists while I am diffusing Cedarwood. Rutavala seems to help the stess and worries melt away so I can sleep and cedarwood helps me stay asleep throughout the night. Post #11 Upload picture- post #11 Dream Catcher may help to open the mind to enhance dreams, and to help one visualize their dreams and hang onto them until they become reality. It will also help to protect one from negative dream. This oils helps to prevent night terrors. Children especially love the scent of this blend. I (Deanna) have several friends who have used Dream Catcher to help stop their children’s night terrors and to help them sleep in their own bed. Dream Catcher works best when it is applied to the forehead, temples, and/or the back of the neck. Some people even but a couple drops on their pillow case and the sent will last for a couple days. This oil is blue in color, however, and will stain. Post #12 Upload picture- post #12 Hormones are little things that can impact our lives in major ways. Post #13 Upload picture- post #13 SclarEssence Essential Oil was specifically designed to support the glandular system. It may also support a healthy endocrine system. Oils balance the body so when we receive the support is needs, equilibrium can be maintained which is increasingly important in today's hectic life style and schedule as more stress is placed on the body physically and emotionally. And therefore our systems need more support more than ever! SclarEssence also is a natural romance enhancer and will help both male and female in this capacity. SclarEssence is a blend that contains these oils: Clary sage – contains natural sclareol, a phytoestrogen that mimics estrogen function to help balance hormones. It helps with menstrual cramps, PMS, and circulatory problems. Spanish sage – is high in limonene, which prevents DNA damage. Peppermint – strengthens the liver and glandular function. Fennel – is antiseptic and stimulating to the gastrointestinal system. It is antispasmodic so it may provide relief from cramps. It also has estrogen-like properties and helps balance hormones. Jamie’s Personal Story: I never knew my hormones were unbalanced and all out of whack until I started using SclarEssence. I suffered from daily headaches for years, taking pain medication daily (and sometimes multiple times a day), not even thinking (or knowing) that it could be linked to my hormone levels. I would often wake up with a headache and go to bed with a headache. I wouldn’t even think twice about popping a Tylenol to ease the pain and then go about my day, when hours later the headache would return. It never even crossed my mind that I was putting toxins into my body and just masking the symptoms every time I took pain medication. That is, until I was introduced to Young Living Essential Oils about a year ago. After attending an “oil party” and learning about what essential oils are and how they are used I began to realize that I was putting unnecessary toxins in my body every time I used that said pain medication. I knew that something had to change so I began using essential oils to treat my headaches instead of Tylenol. The essential oils definitely helped relieve the pain but my headaches continued to return. I felt better because I was treating the symptoms with something all natural rather than putting toxins into my body but I remained confused as to why I was continuing to suffer from headaches. This past Christmas my husband surprised me with two oils, one being SclarEssence. I began taking this oil in a capsule twice a day, three drops per capsule. About a month into using this oil religiously I noticed that I wasn’t experiencing headaches like I had been. In fact, my headaches were completely gone. Around the same time my sister in law mentioned how much clearer my skin looked. It was at this point that I concluded my headaches were due to a hormone imbalance. After taking this oil twice a day for about a month and a half I unintentionally stopped taking it consistently and began taking it more sporadically, whenever I remembered. As a result, I started experiencing headaches again. I didn’t even think about it at first and I was just confused as to why my headaches had returned. Then it clicked, I had stopped being consistent with taking SclarEssence! I now know that I will not go a day without SclarEssence. Add in: When I stopped using SclarEssence regularly I also noticed that my face started randomly breaking out. Post #14 Upload picture- post #14 Dragon Time is a blend of oils that have historically been used to help alleviate premenstrual and menstrual cramps and discomfort. This blend may also be helpful to men with prostate problems. This oil was a game changer for my (Deanna’s) menstrual cramps. I apply it to the sides on my neck and lower stomach the week before my period and now don’t have ANY discomfort. There are six different therapeutic grade essential oils in Dragon Time Essential Oil. Jasmine Absolute - relieves stress and uplifts the mind and body! It has been used throughout history for romance and attraction and for balancing the feminine energy of the body. Clary Sage Essential Oil has been used for centuries to help support the female body and it's own challenges. It is very rich in antioxidants and contains sclareol which is very rare when distilling essential oils. Used to help with occasional mild mood changes, cramps, and edema associated with the menstrual cycle; and same for life changes. Marjoram Essential Oil relaxes tense muscles after exercise, and is supportive of the nervous and cardiovascular systems. Lavender Essential Oil can help you relax, wind down before bed and even ease stress due to its adaptogen nature. Its balancing properties can also boost stamina and energy. Fennel Essential Oil benefits of fennel date back to the ancient Egyptians. Use Fennel Essential Oil to help with occasional digestive upset or to support the circulatory glandular and respiratory systems. Post #17 Upload picture- post #17 Copieba Copaiba Oil is a wonderful essential oil that reduces the body's natural response to injury or irritation and supports healthy digestion. It also will minimize discomfort related to occasional muscle stiffness. It is harvested similarly to how we collect maple syrup! It is taken right from the tree through a pipe drilled into the tree! The essential oil is then produced by steam distilling the copal (oleoresin collected from the tree). Did you know that copaiba oil known to have some of the highest levels of beta-caryophyllene in the world? Beta-caryophyllene has been extensively studied for its ability to modulate the body's response to irritation. The significance is that it is approved by the FDA as a dietary cannabinoid (substance that naturally occurs in the nervous and immune systems). Copaiba is used for pain relief (strong anti-inflammatory), arthritis, rheumatism, cancer, skin disorders, insect bites, stomach distress, urinary disorders, sore throats, and anxiety. It is anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, antimicrobial, anxiolytic, mucolytic, antiulcer, anticancer, antiseptic, and a kidney stone preventative. Post #18 Upload picture- post #18 Relieve it Relieve It is one of my favorite essential oil for sore muscles and joints after exercise. I like like using it with Panaway. Relieve it has a warming sensation to me, where as PanAway has a cooling sensation. I find the smell very unique. It has a very strong, earthy aroma with minty and spicy overtones! There are four different essential oils in this blend. Peppermint Essential Oil is one of the most highly regarded herbs for soothing digestion, it may also restore digestive efficiency. Jean Valnet MD studied peppermint's supportive effect on the liver and respiratory systems. Alan Hirsch MD studied peppermint's ability to directly affect the brain's satiety center, which triggers a sensation of fullness after meals. It is also a key oil in the Raindrop Technique. Spruce Essential Oil is grounding and emotionally releasing. Black Pepper Essential Oil helps with occasional digestive upsets and sooth minor muscle discomfort. Hyssop Essential Oil supports the immune system and is noted for its purifying properties. Post #19 Upload picture- post #19 Deep Relief Deep Relief Essential Oil was designed specially formulated to relieve muscle soreness and tension. Perfect to soothe over minor aches, pains and discomforts associated with everyday activities or exercise. My favorite use for this oil is to use it on my neck that often gets stiff from riding or exercise; or long hours in front of the computer. It also doubles to help with mental fatigue as it contains peppermint. Peppermint has been used for many years to promote mental sharpness. A study performed by Dr. William N. Dember of the University of Cincinnati found that inhaling peppermint oil increased the mental accuracy of students by 28%! The best thing about Deep Relief essential oil is that it comes in a portable roll-on applicator. The steel ball applicator makes it super easy to apply and provides a small amount of oil to the application area. Perfect for when you are sitting in front of the computer or I applying the oil to those hard to reach places on your back or shoulders! Post #20 Upload picture- post #20 This winter was a rough one for sickness. Some schools even closed because so many people were out with the flu. I love using essentials to help kill germs and boost my immune system. But it doesn’t make me invincible and sometimes I do catch the bug that is floating around. I do notice, however, that I when I use my oils I recover much faster than my friends and family. Comment below with your favorite oily win and be entered in a drawing to win a Breathe Easy Rub. Post #21 Upload picture- post #21 Oregano The benefits of oregano oil go beyond cooking. Post #23 Upload picture- post #23 The uses of Eucalyptus oils are very vast and wide-ranging because there are so many species. Traditionally, Eucalyptus species have been used for respiratory system support and to soothe muscles after activity. The Australian Aborigines used the leaves for soothing cuts and scrapes. Unfortunately with the broad uses and abundance of species comes some confusion and even exploitation of the consumer. Therefore, it is up to us as consumers and oil users to have an understanding of the plant and the oil so we can use the oils safely and correctly. Why is There so Much Confusion about Eucalyptus? With over 700 species of eucalyptus, as well as chemotypes, common names and different parts of the plant being marketed, it is no wonder that people are so confused! And on top of it, most companies are labeling the oil all under the genus of Eucalyptus. Now that is not only confusing, but misleading! What is a Chemotype? A chemotype (CT) is a designation that tells you that the species has different chemical constituents. This usually occurs because the plant is grown in a different area under a distinct climate that alters the chemistry. Always purchase and use essential oils by their common name and genus species. And of course make sure they are therapeutic grade! Why does any of this Matter? It matters because different species (and chemotypes) equals different results! So the uses of eucalyptus will be different. And some species may not be suitable for all uses! So you need to match the genus species with the result you want before you go to purchase an essential oil to use!
