This course will challenge your logic and spatial reasoning skills. Many of the topics covered will be used again when you take Algebra 3-4 next year. Materials Needed For Success 3 ring binder with 6 dividers Loose leaf paper OR a dedicated spiral notebook for Geometry 2 pencils with erasers. All work is to be done in PENCIL ONLY! Compass (not the direction kind!) Colored pen for notes and peer grading [Optional] TI-83 or TI-84 graphing calculator. The classroom has a set of graphing calculators which may be used, but will not be available for completing work outside of class. A graphing calculator will be recommended in every high school and college math course from this point forward and would be a wise investment for your future education. Your final mark will be determined by assessment of your proficiency in the standards for this course. Practice work will be assigned and should be completed in order to gain proficiency in skills and a thorough understanding of concepts. Each piece of work is crucial as it provides an opportunity for feedback on improvement and also for growth in the student’s education. Students that do not develop and practice skills through these assignments are not likely to pass this course. Attendance: If you are absent, you will have to find out what you missed from your teammates and make up the work on your own time. Being absent on the day before a test does not excuse the student from taking the test. Excessive absences and/or tardiness may result in a loss of credit. DO NOT MISS CLASS! In mathematics, it is crucial that students practice the skills they learn at school to develop proficiency. I promise to assign worthwhile homework that can be completed in a reasonable time frame. Will you check daily to see that your child has completed it to the best of his or her ability? Will you help your child figure out a system for making sure that the assignment is brought to school each morning? I will provide a safe, caring, respectful learning environment for your child with clear expectations and consequences.
