Government 1:
Rick leads his little tribe of people through the
country side of Southern United States. While he
does so he tried to protect them from man-eating
zombies all without NO protection or guidance
from the United States Government!
Anarchy
No government support or protection!

created where we
create a government
by giving up rights for
protection.
Government 2:
Great Britain still has a Queen head of state
(though with less power than in previous
rulers). This makes the country a:
Monarchy
They are technically a Constitutional
Monarchy which means there is limits on
what the Monarch can and cannot do.
Government 3:
While some countries may have a
Monarchy or a Democracy, they are
really ruled by a small elite class that
have titles such as Duke, Lord, or
Viscount. That makes this a

Aristocracy
This is where you are ruled by those that have
“royal blood” (or they were given some kind of
title).
For a small time the colonies in the United States
were ruled people with titles and given the job by
the King of Britain, but there power/influence was
severely limited so far away from the motherland.
Government 4:
The Sacred Potato God has given me lordship over some islands in
the middle of the Atlantic! Anyone who challenges my rule
challenges our deity!
Theocracy
Ruled by god(s) or his chosen people.
This was VERY common in the middle ages.
Question: would this be legal in the US?
Government 5:
This is the idea where there is no
organization! You work for yourself!
Anarchy
With no form of government to form any guidance these are rarely
successful (no long term successful anarchy in modern history).
Fun fact: There
was an American
Anarchy political
party, but it isn’t
around anymore.
Government 6:
Through some skilled political
maneuvering, control of the military,
and some “mysterious disappearances”
of key rivals… I now RULE!!!
Dictator
This is one where it is taken by force!
Question: What protects our country from
both Monarchs and Dictators?
Government 7:
I may not have a title, but I am loaded
with MONEY, so that makes me fit to rule
with the other wealthy people right?
Oligarchy
This was a form of government that was used
in Ancient times and during the
Enlightenment. It was especially common in
countries that were wealthy enough to
separate from monarchies.
Government 8 :
Voting and choosing people to speak for
you is a characteristic of this type of
government:
Representative Democracy
The United States founding fathers made
our government styled like this to
protect the people!
Government 9:
The Pope in Vatican City (which is a country) basically runs this kind
of government because he is the head of the country and its church.
Theocracy
As head of the church he is God’s spokesman on earth (in a
nutshell), so Vatican City is treated like the Catholic Church is run!
Fun fact: it is the only country with a growing population, but has
zero births throughout the entire year!
Government 10:
Hitler, Mussolini, and Stalin were all
considered to be _______________
because of how they gained control of
their country and most of Europe
through “less peaceful” methods.
Dictators
There is such thing as a “benevolent
dictator,” but they are fewer in recorded
history.
This could mean that they were given a
different status OR it is less likely than
the inhumane ones.
Government 11:
When voting for Homecoming Queen
everyone’s vote matters and aids with the
decision process. This is an example of which
type of government:
Direct Democracy
Everyone has a voice in the government
Government 12:
Beatrice Prior was originally part of Abnegation which was the ruling
group for the other 5 factions of the city. The city was not
representing the diversity of the group, but they were chosen to
rule.
Oligarchy
This is where you are ruled by the few! Italy was known for this
style of government in the Enlightenment. Greece had many city
states that used it in Ancient times.
Government 13:
My father was the ruler of Norway and then
when he died he passed the crown on to me!
I rule now and that makes me in charge! My
country is a:

When you are ruled by a single ruler
that passes through inheritance than
it is a monarchy!
Government 14:
This form of government allows for the most
people to be heard and is most beneficial to
people to grow and prosper.
Direct AND Representative Democracy
BOTH are better for larger, diverse populations that desire more
freedom for the people.
