Annotated Bibliography # 2 Owen Macki October 7, 2010 By Priyanka Chandrasekaran, Katie Bosworth (2010). Effect of music on heart rate Retrieved from http://jrscience.wcp.muohio.edu/nsfall05/LabpacketArticles/EffectofMusic onheartrate.html Music you like will usually increase your heart rate. Rap, pop and metal music will usually speed up your heart rate. Rock doesn’t really do much to your heart rate. Classical music will calm you down and can help relieve stress. Classical is the most calming to your brain and heart because it slows down your heart rate and will calm your brain down. Metal music can get you in an aggressive mood and it’s the same with some genres of rap. Pop music can raise your heartrate. This article is important to my project because the different genres of music that I will use in the trials for my experiment are very different. I needed to know more on the different genres of music and how they effect your mood, heart rate and your brain activity.
