Approval of Minutes The September 14, 2009 regular meeting minutes were approved as submitted by consensus. PSLT Chair Report It was decided that we will not need a Lake Nona representative at this time because Dr. Michael Bosley is currently the only staff member down there. (Debi Jakubcin) Professional Staff Fall for Learning Forum: Currently 72 staff members have RSVP’ed to attend the event. Debi has a concern that not all professional staff members received the e-mail. She wants to make sure we verbally mention it to people. There will be a Leadership Valencia session presented by Dr. Shugart and Michael Shugg titled, Collaboration at the Learning College. It will be on East Campus in Room 5-112 on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 from 2:00 P.M. – 4:30 P.M. Debi is encouraging PSLT members to attend if their schedule permits. Debi will be meeting with Dr. Shugart at the end of October. She will talk to him about the information we obtain from the forum. Professional Staff Fall for Learning Forum (Joe Nunes) The event will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 in the Special Events Center (Building 8) Room 111 on West Campus. 8:00 A.M. – 8:15 A.M.: Staff begin to arrive / continental breakfast 8:15 A.M. – 8:30 A.M.: Dr. Stone will do the welcome/presentation on reasons to celebrate. “Valencia Specific Topics” Moderators: Cynthia Cerrato, Joe Sarrubbo, Sonja Boles-Melvin, and Elizabeth Jusino “Employee Relation Issues” Moderators: Melanie Price, Keith Mizelle, and Shauna Anstey “Computerized Social Networking” Moderators: Angelique Smith, Nemir Matos-Cintron, and Jenny Nevarez We decided to have someone at each table be the recorder. Joe Nunes will send out an e-mail with the names of all the moderators and the recorders they will be paired up with. This means that since we will have 8 people per table, 6 people will move to the next table as we rotate between all three tables. The moderator and recorder will not rotate. Donna Kosloski showed the group what the center pieces will look like. The rental of the table clothes cost $104.00. At this time we have 13 tables to decorate, but that may change to only 10 tables if 80 or less people show up. We are going to have a continental breakfast that will consist of: yogurt with granola (50), apple juice, orange juice, two fruit bowls, and water (Cabin Creek), bagels, cream cheese, and coffee (Panera Bread / donated / Keith Mizelle is picking it up), nutria-grain bars (Debi will get) Joe Nunes will create the agenda and power point. Debi Jakubcin will create the name tags. Joe Sarrubbo will create the evaluation and make 100 copies. Andrea Alfano will be at the registration desk and be responsible for door prizes. Council Updates College Planning Council - CPC (Joe Nunes) Joe will send copies of the meeting minutes once he receives them. We did a rock, paper, scissors fun group activity that they did at the CPC meeting. The CPC is working on three goals (1) budget (2) strategic planning (3) smooth operation of all councils. The “big meeting” will be held on March 19, 2009 in the Special Events Center (Building 8) Room 111 on West Campus. College Learning Council - CLC (Donna Kosloski): Donna provided the group with two handouts (Electronic Meeting Minutes from the July 8, 2009 College Curriculum Committee and an Update from the October 1, 2009 CLC meeting). The major topic discussions were: review of learning council charge, overview of learning council place in governance structure, identify gaps and overlaps, and develop a communication plan for the CLC.
