Joseph (Joe) Nenichka Professional Background – Joe is an Operational Risk manager supporting Merrill Lynch Pierce Fenner & Smith’s Global Securities Operations organization responsible for processes from Canada to Argentina. He has 9 years of experience working closely with colleagues in Europe and Asia to ensure operational risks are identified and mitigated. Previously, Joe was employed by KPMG (2 years) as a Financial Services Director consulting large financial institutions in mergers, securities operations and internal audit. He has also managed multiple teams at Wachovia/First Union; initially in Charlotte as the manger of the Derivatives and FX operations group for First Union (4 years) and then as Chief Operations Officer for Wachovia Capital Markets (2 years), in the UK as the Chief Administrative Officer (4 years). Joe is originally from New York where he worked with Lehman Brothers in several key roles which included Internal Audit (3 years), Head of Quality Assurance for Asia residing in Tokyo (3 years) and assisted in the creation of and managed the New York Equity Derivatives Middle Office/Operations group (2 years) before moving to Charlotte to join First Union. Joe started his career at Arthur Young joining after graduating magna cum laude from Seton Hall University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Accounting. Non-Profit Background – Joe spent 6 great years on the board of the Carolina Raptor Center, the last 3 years leading the Finance Committee. He was responsible for developing a reserve fund and consulting on financial matters related to the strategic growth and success of the Center. Personal Background – Joe is married to an extremely successful entrepreneur, devoted mother and a fantastic partner, Stacie Salisbury. Together they have 4 outstanding children ranging from 12 to 19 years old. They moved from New York and have lived in Charlotte for 16 out of the past 20 years. They embraced their community through the design and development of Davie Park and participation in civic groups in the Piper Glen neighborhood.
