DIONYSUS (BACCHUS) • God of Wine • Lives on Earth • Mother was mortal • Can bring joy, but can also cause madness & brutality • Symbols: the thyrsus (a pinecone-tipped staff), drinking cup, grape vine, and a crown of ivy.
