Job Purpose
Assisting or leading the organisation, co-ordination and delivery of events; focussing on events
which under-pin the work of the Authority. Working in partnership with the community and
business groups, Council services, and other public bodies to achieve this.
Duties and Responsibilities - Job Specific
1. Lead as part of the broader Corporate Communications and Marketing Services
section in delivering an events management service.
2. Provide technical assistance to events and event organisers, both internally and
externally.
3. Manage the resources including budgets in partnership with the Corporate
Communications and Marketing Manager to deliver the above service.
4. Supervise Event Assistants and operatives to ensure the events run smoothly and that
safety of attendees is maintained.
5. Maintain a schedule of future events with which the Corporate Communications and
Marketing Manager and section is engaged, to support the effective use of resources.
6. Work with colleagues as appropriate to market and promote events.
7. Liaise and develop partnerships with external bodies as requested by the Corporate
Communications and Marketing Manager in order to effectively co-ordinate service
delivery and to maximise value to the County of events delivered by third parties.
8. Develop effective administrative procedures ensuring such processes are in harmony
with those employed throughout the Authority.
9. While your primary place of work will be at the Department in Bodlondeb, your duties
will take you out of the office to visit various establishments.
Duties and Responsibilities - Corporate
1. To be responsible for establishing good working relationships both internally and
externally.
2. Compliance with the Authority’s Policies and Procedures and to make known to Senior
Officers any areas which are not adequately covered.
3. To participate actively in supporting the Authority’s principles and practices of equality
of opportunity as laid down within the Equal Opportunities Policy.
4. To be responsible for the application of Health & Safety practices within the daily
operations, sharing a common responsibility for Health & Safety across the
department, directorate and Authority as a whole.
5. Employees will be required to give certain information relating to themselves in order
that the Authority may properly carry out its duties, rights and obligations as an
employer. The Authority will process and control such data principally for personnel,
administrative and payroll purposes.
6. As a term of your employment and in order to maintain effective departmental
operations, you may be required to undertake any other reasonable task,
commensurate with your grade, as determined by your Line Manager or Head of
Service.
