Treasurer’s Report
Chris asked me to go over the budget process because we are just now getting into it. Two of you
went through the budget process last year. So the rest of you should pay careful attention. About
mid October the budget request gets sent out. The request asks the budget directors if the
budgets should increase or decrease. During winter break, I will be going over the budget
requests that were sent back. I will also be preparing for the budget hearings with any questions
I may want to ask. First Friday of the spring semester is the first hearing. All budget directors will
come up, they will present and will give their side of what they want to see with the budgets and
why. This is what happens at all the hearings. I will make a final proposed balanced budget with
all the information I have attained from these hearings. From there you all will go through my
presentation, deliberate, and decide if you see fit with my budget. If so, it passes right there. If
not, as usual, you all can make changes and then pass it during a forum. All budget directors will
be here with questions comments and concerns. I will give a final presentation with all the
changes you all made, you vote, it goes to student body president, and then President Delaney
has 15 days to sign off on it. This is a 0 based budget, meaning we start from scratch every year,
start from 0. It’s a new proposal and we focus on that proposal.
