Latin 2 Vocabulary “Ladder” Drill Chapter 23 (pages 199 & 200) 1. Number a lined piece of paper from 1 – 21. 2. Starting at the bottom (i.e. number 21), place the Latin words on the left side of the page and the English definitions on the right side of the page. Begin with the words you know very well and proceed upward with the words you know less well (i.e. number 21 is the easiest word and number 1 is the hardest for you). 3. Fold the paper in half so that the Latin words (and principal parts) are on one side and the English words are on the other side. 4. Get with a partner and read the Latin words (and principal parts, if applicable) and provide the definition to your partner. Try to “climb the ladder” as high as you can. When you miss one, your partner tells you what the word means and then takes his or her turn. Keep repeating this until you get to the top! Also, go both English to Latin and Latin to English. 1. stupeo stupēre stupui 2. turba –ae f 3. induo induere indui indutus 4. advenio –ire advēni adventurus 5. quies, quietis f 6. descendo descendere descendi descensus 7. curro currere cucurri 8. ago agere egi actus 9. gaudium –I n 10. mirus –a –um 11. undique 12. maximus –a –um 13. lectica –ae f 14. huc illuc 15. primum 16. ferent 17. curabo 18. ducam 19. eo 20. domum 21. videbunt be amazed crowd put on reach rest to come down to run to drive joy wonderful on all sides greatest litter back and forth first they will carry I will take care of I will lead there home they will see
