TREASURER (three year term beginning June 1, 2015 – one candidate and a write-in opportunity) Joseph Domaracki I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Slippery Rock State College in 1977, an M. Ed. in Special Education in 1983 and a Ph.D. in Special Education from the University of Pittsburgh in 1988. Between 1986 and 1992 I was a Research Associate\Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh coordinating the Western Region Supported Employment Technical Assistance Center and an OSERS School to Work Transition Research Grant. (71) I currently hold the rank of Professor at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in the Department of Special Education and Clinical Services. Since arriving in 1992 I have served my department as a Program Coordinator, Evaluation Committee Chairperson, and Department Chairperson. From 2011-2014 I served as Interim Associate Dean of Teacher Education for the College of Education and Educational Technology. I have published numerous articles and chapters and have presented at international, national and state level conferences. (77) I am a member of TASH, CEC, and Phi Kappa Phi as well as an IUP Institutional Representative to PAC-TE for fourteen years. As a member of PAC-TE I serve as a member of the Special Education Focus Group and the School Safety Committee and have been member of the Audit Committee for four years. Director, PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS (three-year term beginning June 1, 2015 -- three candidates) Beverly Bryde I would like to submit my nomination for the Private Institutions Representative for the 2015-18 Term. Currently, I serve as the Dean for Education and Chief Credentialing Officer at Cabrini College after serving on the faculty for 12 years (1990-95, 2006-13) and holding the department chair position for 3 years. Additionally, I was a full-time, tenured faculty member at California Lutheran University (CA) for 8 years (1998-2006). These 20+ years of experience at private institutions of higher education have prepared me well for this position. I have been a member of PAC-TE and AACTE for over 13 years. Cabrini College has a strong institutional membership with PAC-TE and a sound presence at the annual conferences. This past Fall, Page 1 of 4 Cabrini had 16 faculty, staff and students attend the conference as well as providing several presentations. My educational background has been at private institutions in Pennsylvania (B.S. in Education, Villanova, M.A., Villanova, Ed.D., Widener) which supports my institutional understanding for this position. Finally, my professional interests and research are rooted in social justice education and I hold memberships with the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities (ACC&U) and the National Association for Multicultural Education (NAME) which believes in advocating for social justice. Richard Fuller I currently serve as the Department Head of Education at Robert Morris University and have served the university as faculty and the coordinator for Business, Computer and Information Technology teacher certification for the past 9 years. I teach graduate and doctoral courses in instructional leadership, instructional design for traditional and distance education and educational technology for educators. I previously served as Program Director for Drexel University for 7 years, taught as a high school business teacher for 5 years and as a vocational teacher for 6 years. I hold Instructional II and Vocation II certifications within Pennsylvania as well as an Ohio teacher certification. I received my Doctorate of Education from The Penn State University. My research interests center on leadership and motivation, creating interaction in distance education pedagogies, and how the use of technology can enhance learning. I have been active in PAC-TE for the past 7 years serving as Treasurer and board member. I also serve as a member of the ATE and the National Business Educators Association. I am active with Sloan-C and present at several national and international conferences annually. Marcia Bolton Marcia Bolton, Ed.D., is currently an Associate Professor at Widener University, Chester PA. She serves as the Director of Certification and Student Teachers. Marcia has been very active in all aspects of university and college life, including traveling with students to build homes for Habitat for Humanity during University spring breaks. In addition to the director duties, Marcia teaches classes in early education, reading, teacher education methods classes for early education and middle school levels, and has supervised student teachers at the preschool, elementary, middle school, and high school levels. Marcia serves on the KDP Policy Advocacy Committee and as a reviewer for several professional journals. Further, she sits on a review board for a newly launched journal that highlights student works: the Journal of Education Policy, Planning and Administration. Marcia’s research agenda focuses on improving teacher preparation with a major interest in developing the supervision of student teachers. Before entering higher education, Marcia taught in the elementary grades for 28 years and served as a Reading Specialist and Reading Recovery Teacher Leader. Page 2 of 4 Director, STATE-RELATED INSTITUTIONS (three year term beginning June 1, 2015 – one candidate and a write-in opportunity) Donna Dombek Associate Professor and Director of Teacher Education, University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. I hold a Doctorate of Education (Curriculum and Instruction), Master of Arts in Leadership Studies (Principalship certification) and Education Specialist (Supervisor of Instruction) degrees from Marshall University Graduate College. In addition, I hold a Master of Arts (Elementary Education) from West Virginia University and a Bachelor of Science in Early/Middle Education (Certified K-8) ) from Bluefield State College. I served as a classroom teacher, Dean of Students, Principal, and central office administrator from 1995-2004 in my home state of WV. I began my first job in higher education as an Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford in August of 2004. I now hold the title of Associate Professor and am the Director of the teacher education program. I have been an active member of PAC-TE since 2004 when I attended my first conference. I am also a member of ATE and the National Field Directors Forum. I have presented at 12 state, national and international conferences since 2007, and have published articles in Critical Issues in Teacher Education and The Field Experience Journal. Director, STATE SYSTEM INSTITUTIONS (three year term beginning June 1, 2015 – two candidates) John McCarthy My name is John R. McCarthy and I am currently the Associate Dean for the College of Education at Kutztown University. I graduated with my bachelors and masters degrees from Mansfield University (a PASSHE school) and my doctorate in Leadership in Higher Education and Program Evaluation from the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY. My previous experience includes a number of years working in medical education at two different medical schools in NY State where I was involved in curriculum development and teaching. I have taught undergraduate medical education students and undergraduates in liberal arts. Much of my experience in my recent past has been focused on assessment of student learning outcomes and student achievement and re-accreditation for the college. Additionally, I was a key participant in accreditation during my tenure in medical education, as well as coordinating overall responsibility for the delivery of learning content programs in simulation. I am active in a number of professional organizations, as well as a number of local (KU) committees / organizations / projects. In terms of priority, two of the key committees/organizations that I participate in are: 1) the PAC-TE Committee on Safe Schools and Prevention of Violence; and 2) the Pennsylvania Education Policy Fellowship Program. John Ward Dr. John Ward earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan, certification in math and special education and a masters degree in Special Education from the University of Detroit and Doctorate in Education from the University of Memphis. He taught math and special education in the Detroit Public Schools. He currently serves as an associate professor in the Page 3 of 4 Educational Foundations department of Millersville University where he supervises student teachers and teaches classes in assessment, technology, research, and philosophy of education. His primary research interest is the history, definition, and enactment of teacher reflection. He has been a member of the PAC-TE board since 2012, was chair of the Educational Foundations department from 2007-2014, and serves twice a year as a chair for NCATE BOE teams. He believes that PAC-TE can promote a meaningful vision for teacher education during a period of tremendous change. Director, INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS (three year term beginning June 1, 2015 -- one candidate and a write-in opportunity) John Butzow Dr. John W. Butzow earned a B.S. and M.S. in Chemistry from St. Bonaventure University and an Ed.D. in Science Education at the University of Rochester. He served as a chemistry faculty member at Nazareth College in Rochester, NY and for 16 years as Professor of Science Education at the University of Maine. John is a founding member of the Gulf of Maine Marine Education Association and was a member of the Board of Maine State Science Teachers Association. After serving for 18 years as Dean of Education at Indiana University of PA, he retired in 2005. John was a founding Director of the Pennsylvania Academy for the Profession of Teaching and, for eight years, a member of the Pennsylvania Standards and Practices Commission. He has served PAC-TE as director representing the state system, as director representing individuals, as Vice President and as President. John served as Board Member of the Teacher Education Council of State Colleges and Universities for four years. He has been a board member and is the former president of the Jimmy Stewart Museum in Indiana PA. John is the co-author of eight books on science teaching methods and enjoys travel in retirement.
