Trustpower Job Description Job Title: Business Development Manager Reports To: General Manager Trustpower Australia Direct Reports: Indirect Reports: Function: Position Code: Level: Location: [Melbourne, Adelaide or Tauranga] Date Reviewed: April 2015 Purpose Statement Trustpower’s objective is by 31 March 2017: Trustpower is one of the three most active wind developers in Australia and has a pipeline that will ensure this position can be retained profitably for the next decade. The Business Development Manager will maximise the present and potential value of new opportunities for development of the Australian asset base by: Working in conjunction with the other members of the Australian development team to pursue opportunities for business development in Australia and to enable commercial outcomes to be measured and maximised in both the retail and generation business. Liaising with the various other managers to ensure appropriate value enhancing opportunities are carried through. Leading the due diligence process of potential business opportunities, including preparation of investment analysis reports Close interface with Finance, Commercial Operations and Generation Divisions Key Accountabilities Strategy Development 1) Assist in the development and documentation of Trustpower Strategy. 2) Maintain an overview of Australian market trends and opportunities. 3) In conjunction with the NZ based modelling team design and develop models to enable effective decision making at senior management and board level. 4) Develop business case reports for board approval. 5) Assist in the development of Trustpower’s regulatory strategy. 6) Maintain an overview of opportunities for Trustpower’s expansion outside of Australasia. New Business Opportunities 1) Actively pursue opportunities to increase the value of Trustpower’s wind pipeline by acquiring options that are superior to and/or complementary to those held currently. 2) Explore models for the development of other forms of generation including commercial-scale solar projects (possibly co-sited with wind developments) and the deployment of rooftop installations for commercial and industrial retail customers. 3) Manage key stakeholders including development partners, suppliers, landholders and the local communities. 4) Develop and maintain relationships with potential offtake customers of future renewable projects. Regulatory/Compliance 1) Maintain an overview of all regulatory issues impacting Trustpower’s business activities in Australia. 2) Provide updates to the Senior Leadership Team of impending changes to the regulatory environment that need particular attention by Trustpower. 3) Co-ordinate formal submissions to regulatory and other bodies on regulatory issues. 4) Ensure submissions and external correspondence in relation to regulatory issues is reviewed by internal stakeholders, and provide quality control for all submissions. 5) Assist in the preparation and review of briefing documents to support meetings with regulators. 6) Participate as required in industry working groups. Analysis/Reporting 1) Develop an in depth view of the forward price curve scenarios including price volatility and price risk for energy and ensure its correct implementation in the key areas where value can be added to the company from this understanding. 2) Provide robust analysis to support the location and type of new generation investment opportunities and ensure they are in line with Trustpower’s portfolio requirements. 3) Provide advanced financial modelling and robust interrogation of data to support decision-making. 4) Provide oversight and input into TrustPower’s analytical modelling capabilities. Industry Liaison 1) Development and maintenance of effective working relationships with external regulators and energy sector representatives Health and Safety 1) LTI = Zero 2) . 3) Ensure that work incidents are openly and accurately reported and discussed. Work injuries are fully investigated and preventative actions implemented were practicable. 4) Development and implementation of processes to monitor contractor HSE systems and compliance to drive superior safety and environmental performance.
