October News October is a very busy month in first grade. We will discuss and complete projects dealing with Columbus Day, fire safety, Fall and Halloween this month. We will also begin spelling. Word lists and homework for each week will be placed into their homework agenda . Behavior Charts Your child should have a monthly behavior chart in the front pocket of their Monkey Book. Please take time each evening to review this chart and sign. If your child has had a great day at school, they will color the smiley face a color of their choice. If they had to pull any cards, they will color the box the same color of the card they are on at the end of the day. Colors represent the following: Warning + 1 card =green 2 cards pulled = yellow 3 cards pulled = orange 4 cards pulled = pink All cards pulled = white Bring your smile to school for school pictures! School Photo day is Wednesday, October 10th. Please remember to send in your child’s photo envelope with your selection and money if you wish to purchase. Fire Prevention Week Fire prevention week will begin on, October Please discuss and review the fire safety rules with your child. We are also encouraging 9th. children to learn their address and phone number. Remember... STOP - DROP AND ROLL! Halloween Parade and Party Our Halloween party and parade will be on Wednesday, October 31st. We will parade around the school community and the party will be in our classroom immediately after. Please send your child’s costume to school in a bag with his or her name on the front. Also, please make sure your child can put on their costume with minimal assistance. Homeroom parents will be available, but time is limited. Thank you for your cooperation. HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Reminders... * Snacks – please make sure that the snacks you send for your child are of the “healthy variety”. We ask that you do not send candy as a snack. Thank you! *School store is now open every other Wednesday! *Please remember to dress your child appropriately for the changing Fall weather!! *Practice and review vocabulary in your child’s study book and planner. You may want to make flashcards for fun, easy review. *Begin to memorize learned addition facts.
