JCI Leeds recently won the bidding process to host JCI UK’s National Convention in November 2013.
We are pleased to present the possible ways to partner with us in delivering this event.
JCI UK
Junior Chamber International is a voluntary non-profit, non-religious and non-political membership organisation for young people between 18 and 40. Our mission is to provide development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change. Our members have opportunities to learn new skills and business awareness, network with likeminded individuals and carry out community and charity work.
We are a network of local Chambers across England, Wales and Northern Ireland and part of a larger international organisation that counts, among others, Kofi Annan, Jacques Chirac, Bill Clinton and
John F. Kennedy as past members. JCI was established in 1915 in the US and has been active in the
UK since 1927, where we are also known as the Junior Chamber of Commerce or British Junior
Chamber.
JCI UK i s proud to be one of the sixty recipients of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Volunteering
Award, the highest standard of recognition given to volunteer groups across the UK.
The following are examples of projects undertaken by JCI Chambers across the UK in 2012.
JCI Barnsley – Hidden Heroes: A project recognising “hidden heroes” in the local society.
JCI Sheffield – Archer Project: Working with the Archer Cathedral to raise money for and create awareness of homelessness.
JCI Liverpool – Go Clean the World: A project aiming for a cleaner Liverpool.
JCI Southampton – Costa Academy: A £29,000 project, using lottery funding, to build a bespoke training facility and offer unemployed youngsters apprenticeships with Costa Coffee.
JCI UK National Convention 2013
Our National Convention 2013 will be held at Oulton Hall, Leeds, from Friday 22 to Sunday 24
November. The weekend will be packed with high profile speakers, networking opportunities, training seminars, public speaking and debating competitions, gala dinner and the national awards ceremony.
As host chapter, we see this as a great opportunity to raise the profile of our local chapter as well as our initiatives aimed at developing young professionals and the impact we can make on our local community and region.
The event will be attended by 100-150 JCI members, mostly from across the UK, but we also expect some international attendees. Our members tend to work in professional services, creative industries or SMEs. We will also welcome a number of JCI Senators – those members and past members who have been granted life membership, many now highly successful and established members of their business communities.
The theme of the conference will be “The Future of Business”.
