House Bill 5
and how it
affects me!
House Bill 5
What is it and what is the purpose?
There are two main purposes of HB-5
• Reduce the number of state end-of-course
assessments required for high school students
to graduate.
• Allow high school students greater flexibility in
choosing their courses while maintaining
academic rigor.
The new graduation plans and changes to credit
requirements go into effect with the freshman
class of 2014-15.
