2015 NORTH RIDGEVILLE
RANGER FOOTBALL
HEAD COACH: LUKE DURBIN
“If you believe in yourself and have the courage, the determination, the dedication, the
competitive drive, and if you are willing to sacrifice the little things in life and pay the
price for the things that are worthwhile, it can be done.”
Vince Lombardi
Hard Work
“Dictionary is the only place that success comes before work. Hard work is the price we must pay for
success. I think you can accomplish anything if you're willing to pay the price.”
Vince Lombardi

Playing football requires an attitude of togetherness to develop a team concept. This requires
character, which comes from physical and mental toughness, and an ability to give effort to reach your
full potential. If you can do the things it takes to play winning football, you can be a winner in life,
which is the most important accomplishment.
Playing football is a privilege, not a right.
Luke Durbin
Head Coach of the North Ridgeville Rangers
PHILOSOPHY OF PROGRAM
At North Ridgeville High School, our focus is to teach life skills to young adults.
We Teach:
-
Accountability and Focus
Work Ethic and Commitment
Communication, Cooperation, and Team Work
By being a part of this process each athlete will:
-
Develop greater confidence in themselves
Build character
Learn how to deal with adversity
As a member of the Ranger’s Football Team, young athletes will realize greater rewards by
being a part of a team rather than an individual. Extracurricular activates are a privilege, not a
right!
SCOPE OF JURISDICTION
All student-athletes are bound by both school rules and the Athletic Code of Conduct.
-
The Code of Conduct is in effect 365 days per year, which includes summer break!
ACADEMICS
Student-athletes are expected to be exactly that; student first and then athlete! Each of these
young men’s progress in the classroom will be monitored through various ways:
-
Weekly grade checks
Player / Coach Conferences
Teacher comments
ATTENDANCE/DISCIPLINE POLICIES
o No practice / No play unless excused by Head Coach
o Do not get a detention. If you do, expect discipline action at football.
 ALL detentions served before school on your time, NOT team time.
o Perfect attendance – Do not miss!
o MUST PRACTICE THURSDAY AND BE IN SCHOOL FRIDAY TO PLAY IN THE GAME.

GRADES MATTER
Ranger Helmet Initiative
We are giving families the option of purchasing their son’s helmet at the start of their high school
career. If a helmet is purchased, your son will wear the helmet for all four years of high school and keep the
helmet after their senior season. The pad size inside helmets is adjustable and head size does not grow much
during high school, allowing one player to wear the same size helmet throughout high school. The two helmet
choices listed in the ad on the next page are the top rated helmets available from Riddle. Purchasing the helmets
through us will allow you to receive a discounted price (Speedflex for $399 on Riddle website) and not pay tax.
Again, this is optional. We are proud to say that the WKYC study found all of our helmets rated either 4 or 5 stars
on a scale of 1-5, which is better than both Avon and Grafton. The padded girdle and shirt are also fully optional
but is it recommended to purchase a padded girdle for sanitary reasons. If you buy a helmet, I will contact you
for a helmet sizing day in early May.
North Ridgeville Ranger Creed
Recognizing that I volunteered as a Ranger, fully knowing the responsibilities of my
chosen sport, I will always endeavor to uphold the prestige, honor, and high esprit-decorps of my Ranger Team.
Acknowledging the fact that a Ranger is a more elite Athlete, I accept the fact that as a
Ranger my city expects me to move further, faster and fight harder than any other
Athlete.
Never shall I fail my teammates. I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically
strong, and morally straight and I will shoulder more than my share of the task,
whatever it may be, one hundred percent and then some.
Gallantly will I show the world that I am a specially selected and well-trained Athlete.
My courtesy to teachers and coaches, performance in the classroom, and care of
equipment shall set the example for others to follow.
Energetically will I meet the opponents on our schedule. I shall defeat them on the field
of battle for I am better trained and will fight with all my might. Surrender is not a
Ranger word. I will never leave the field without knowing that I have fought my best for
every second of every play. Under no circumstances will I ever embarrass my city.
Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight on to the Ranger objective
and win the game, though I will give credit to my teammates. I will lead the way, for I
am a North Ridgeville Ranger.
