Freedom MIDDLE SCHOOL 8th Grade Georgia Studies Miss Henry COURSE DESCRIPTION: In eighth grade students will study Georgia geography, history, government, and economics. While the four strands are interwoven, ample opportunity is also provided for in depth study of the geography of Georgia and the government of Georgia. U.S. Historical events are included, as appropriate, to ensure students understand Georgia’s role in the history of the United States. These standards may be found at www.georgiastandards.org The course will also be guided by the Cherokee County School District Georgia Studies Curriculum Map. GRADING POLICY: Tests: Projects/Participation: Quizzes: Classwork/Writing Assignments: 25% 25% 25% 25% CLASS POLICIES: Section I: Homework/Quiz/Test Policy 1. All homework assignments should be completed by the due date (which is usually the next academic day unless otherwise stated on the assignment). 2. A student may obtain full credit on a homework assignment if completed in full by the named due date. 3. Students will be notified at least 3 days in advance of a test and 1 day in advance of a quiz. Section II. Late Work Policy All homework and classwork is expected to be returned to the teacher by the assigned deadline. Points will be deducted for assignments turned in late. The maximum credit allowed for assignments turned in 1 day late is 70% and 2 days late is 50%. No assignments will be accepted after the second day. Section III: Other I am available each day at 7:45 a.m. to assist students or by appointment after school. This syllabus is not inclusive and is subject to change based on student performance, current events, curriculum directives or any other administrative directive. Follow directions the first time they are given. B. Change tasks quickly and quietly. C. Complete all assignments and homework. D. Sit in your assigned seats. IV. Be respectful. A.
