What will we do? How is it graded?
Homework - Homework will be assigned each time class
meets. A short time at the beginning of each class will be set
aside to answer any questions concerning the previous
homework assignment. It is strongly recommended that you
do all of the homework assigned in order to insure your
success.
Review – There will be a “practice test” that is
available on my website (the practice test is called a
review). You should complete the practice test by
yourself, then watch the corresponding video to check
your work.
Exams- There are 7 tests and a comprehensive final
exam scheduled.
ALL TESTS MUST BE TAKEN ON THE DAY
AND TIME LISTED ON THE SYLLABUS. IN
VERY SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES YOU MAY
TAKE A TEST EARLY.
Final Exam – The final exam is comprehensive (see
the last page for the final exam date and time for your
class). Your score on your final exam will replace your
lowest test score. I will drop your score on the final
exam if it is your lowest test score.
Make-ups - No make-up exams will be given. If you
miss an exam you will get a 0 for your score, your score
on the final exam will replace this test score. You will
receive a grade of 0 on any exam after the first exam
you miss and have no chance to improve your grade.
IN VERY SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES YOU
MAY TAKE A TEST EARLY. You have until the
first person turns in their test on exam day to start your
test, if you are later than that I will count the exam as
missed.

Any fine print tips for success?
 Out of sight, out of mind: Mute or turn off your cell phones before class!

Food and Drink: Food is not allowed in the classroom. Drinks with screw-on
lids are OK.

Make it to class: Make a decision early to be diligent in attendance. It will be
hard to pass this class if you don’t come often.

Do the work: Make a commitment to preparing for and participating in class,
doing assigned homework and asking questions when you don’t understand.

Do your own work: Do not cheat or allow anyone to cheat from you. See
student handbook for consequences.

Taping: Permitted, however, good notes are more useful.

Disability Statement: If you have a disability that may have some impact on
your work in this class and for which you may require accommodations, please
notify Disability Services located in TDS-100 on the GCC Main campus.
Telephone (623) 845-3080
Stay the Course: Withdrawals may affect your scholarship/financial aid. Please see me
if you are having problems that are preventing you from completing this course. If you
decide you need to withdraw from the class, please fill out the paperwork to complete the
process. You may be dropped from the class after 4 absences. Don’t assume that you
will be dropped from the class if you stop attending. If you do not withdraw from the
class you may receive a grade of an F.
Any surprises?
While no changes in the course requirements or policies as outlined in this syllabus are
anticipated, I reserve the right to vary from this course outline to meet the needs of the
class. Any changes will be announced in class, and it will be your responsibility to make
note of those changes whether you are in attendance or not.
I look forward to being your teacher this semester. Please feel free to contact me any
time with your feedback or questions
