Transition to planning and writing a lesson (draft) that models the ELA CC Literacy Cycle. A complete “cycle” of the reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language skills as defined by the Common Core. Mark up text: number each page (8) Number each paragraph (41), Identify the central ideas/themes Mark vocabulary—unfamiliar words, uncertain words, unusual words; Underline and label sentences, phrases of confusion or interest. Make marginal notations. Nash-Rocky Mount Public School System Inspectional Reading/2nd Reading Identify type and structural components of the text What do I see? What information is given clearly? What information is missing? What type of sentence structure do you see? Rhetorical devices? Build an essential vocab list, define those terms. Briefly summarize each paragraph in the margin. As a “teacher reader” begin to identify potential challenges to teaching this text. Reflect on the “inspectional read” process. Submit a HARD copy of the lesson to your administrator by the end of your workday on Friday, August 24. A copy of the selected informational text, “marked up” with your Inspectional Read, and 2nd reading notations. 3.
