8th Grade Pre-AP Science End-Of-Year Project Project Idea Guidelines Group Brainstorming Session(s) 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. You may have up to three people per group. Melka pre-AP students only in 2nd, 4th or 5th period. As always, you may choose to work alone. You will select ONE experimental question from slides #6-7 to investigate further OR you may choose your own testable question. If you choose your own question, it must relate to concept(s) learned in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade science. Once you decide on a topic, you will conduct background research over it. Then, you’ll design an experiment, conduct the experiment, collect your data, analyze it, and write a conclusion. Your entire project will be recorded in a formal lab report. There is a template you will follow – just open it in Microsoft Word and fill in your information. The instructions for each section are noted on the template. You will turn in ONE formal lab report per group no later than Friday, May 29, 2015. Project Idea Guidelines Group Brainstorming Session(s) 6. Your group is responsible for purchasing/getting supplies. If you need to use any of the school’s science equipment for your experimentation, you must do so AT school. NO equipment will be checked out to you to conduct testing at home. 7. Keep the overall experiment short as you’ll only have about 10 days to research, design, test, collect data, and prepare your final lab report. Important dates to remember: 5/15 (athletics field trip), 5/19 (8th grade field trip). 8.
