Grammar Note: An important difference between a résumé and an essay is that you format sentences differently. Sentence fragments are acceptable on a résumé. Other grammar errors, however, will kill your chances at getting an interview. The objective on a résumé = the thesis statement on an outline W r i t e Yo u r O b j e c t i v e • Many people do not include an objective on their résumés. • If you need the space, eliminate it; if you need to fill space, include one. • To write the objective: • Explain what type of employment you want (exact job title) • Add what skill(s) you will bring to the employer • Indicate what you can do for the employer, not what you want the employer to do for you.
