Strategies and Practice: Multiple Choice • 45 minutes to complete 60 questions. • You do not get punished for incorrect answers… so answer them all. • 50% of the overall exam grade – Test is normed, so the passing % changes from year to year. – Usually between 45% and 60% right will get you to pass. Strategies and Practice: Free Response • 100 minutes to finish 4 questions. – Each FRQ is worth 25%, regardless of the points in the question. – Usually cross units and/or look for analysis of political relationships. • GIVE EXAMPLES OF EVERYTHING • DO NOT USE “THE GOVERNMENT”, be specific in what branch. • Graders look for the correct answer, even if you write the wrong stuff. Strategies and Practice: Free Response • One Practice FRQ from the 2012 Released Exam – If time, full 25 minutes to write, review as class. • How to count points • Differences between explain, describe, identify.
