Course Overview The following is a course outline for this course. This outline is a guideline only, the schedule is subject to change. First Six Weeks: (8-24-15 to 10-2-15) Unit 1: Business Second Six Weeks: (10-5-15 to 11-13-15) Unit 2: Management Third Six Weeks: (11-16-15 to 1-15-16) Unit 3: Marketing & Advertising Fourth Six Weeks: (1-19-16 to 3-04-16) Unit 4: Accounting Fifth Six Weeks: (3-14-16 to 4-22-16) Unit 5: Business Project & Production Sixth Six Weeks: (4-25-16 to 6-2-16) Unit 6: Finance Required Text There is no required textbook required for this course but plenty of supplemental information will be provided throughout the year. Course Materials The following materials are what the student are expected to have for this course every day. 2 inch three ring binder Spiral notebook and/or loose notebook paper Pencils Basic four function calculator GOOGLE DRIVE ACCOUNT Resources The following resources are what your student will be expected to use on a daily basis: Classroom computer Handouts that are passed out Notes/PowerPoint Designated Internet & Application Resources GOOGLE DRIVE ACCOUNT iMovie app Edmodo Account GoVenture Entrepreneur App (Provided by School) GoVenture Accounting Software (On School Computers) Extra Credit Items that may be brought to school by Friday, September 4th for extra credit are listed below: Kleenex (Extra Credit) Post-its (Extra Credit) Printer Paper (Extra Credit) All Extra Credit Items students are only allowed to bring one item (of their choosing) and a maximum quantity of two for that item. For example: If your student would like to bring post-it notes for their extra credit points then the maximum packages of post-it notes they can bring is two. Extra Credit Items will be considered as the first bellringer of the year and student will receive a 100% on this first bellringer whether or not they bring one or two items. Students will not be counted against if they decide not to participate in the extra credit, but this will be the only time of the year extra credit is offered. All Extra Credit Items are due by Friday, September 4th , any items brought after this date will not receive any points but your charitable donation will be greatly appreciated. Grading Policy A six week grade is obtained by the following: Daily = 60% Tests = 40% Total = 100% (2) The breakdown of each category is listed below: Daily: Bellringers = 5% (Daily) Classroom Assignments = 20% (Daily) Quizzes = 30% Participation = Total Daily Grade = Tests: Test 1 = 20% Test 2 = 20% Total Tests Grade = 40% (2) 5% (Daily) 60% Letter Grade Scale: “A” 90.00% - 100.00% “B” 80.00% - 89.99% “C” 75.00% - 79.99% “D” 70.00% - 74.99% “F” < 69.99% Homework Policy Students will receive class time each day to complete their classroom activities and/or assignments. If the student does not complete the activity by the end of the class period then the student must have the activity completed by the beginning of the next day at the beginning of class unless specified otherwise by the teacher. Academic Honesty It is expected that all student complete and turn in their work with 100% academic honesty and that the work truly represents the individual’s work. Any cheating in any way will result in the following: an automatic zero for the assignment a zero for classroom participation Parent Contact If the Academic Dishonesty continues then all of the previous will occur plus the following: Principal Referral Disciple Referral If student does not complete academic honesty (whether it is the first offense or not) on a major grade such as a test, project, presentation, etc. all of the previous consequences will occur. Attendance Policy Attendance is extremely important to be successful in this course. It is expected for the students to put forth their best efforts every day, which it is very difficult to put forth your best efforts if you are not in the classroom. In the event of an absence, students are expected to get the assignment from the appropriate folders in the classroom or online and will receive a one day extension for the assignment upon the students return to school. After the one day extension the assignment will be consider late. For how many absences and what is excused vs. unexcused please refer to the district and campus rules regarding attendance. Late Work & Make-Up Work All assignments are expected to be turned in on time. However in the event of turning in an assignment late, the student has one day after the deadline to turn in the assignment for the maximum grade of a 70%. After the one day the student may turn in the assignment up until the next two days for a maximum of 50%, anything afterwards will not be accepted and will receive a zero for the assignment. Tardy/Late Arrival Students shall be working on the bellringer activity by the time the tardy bell rings In the event of being late to the class, students are expected to enter the classroom quietly with a tardy pass. In the event a student does not have a tardy pass, the student is allowed three tardies before being referred to the grade level principal Leaving the Classroom In the event of a student needing the leave the classroom, the student may ask for permission to use a hall pass in order to leave the classroom. The number of hall passes handed out to students is limited seeing that each student receives ten hall passes for the year. Classroom Rules 1. Students shall show up prepared for class everyday with the proper materials and attitude. 2. Students shall participate in ALL classroom activities. 3. Students shall act and complete all activities in a true professional manner. 4. Student will respect EVERYONE that is within the classroom. 5. Students will have all of their mobile devices either turned off or on silent mode and out of sight. a. School district cell phone policy states the following: i. A student shall not display or use any electronic device, (electronic video, recording, or telecommunication device such as a pager, cellular telephone, blackberry, “walkie-talkie”, MP3 players, iPods, etc.) once they arrive on school property or while attending school-related activities during regular school hours (as defined 7:15 AM – 4:00 PM). ii. If a student is in possession of one of these devices during instructional hours, the device must be turned off and kept out of sight. Students may use these devices after 4 P.M. iii. Refer to the Sweeny ISD School Handbooks in regards to further details and consequences. 6. Students will follow all campus & district wide rules. Technology Classroom Rules: 1. iPads will be placed face down on the computer tower at your desk once the tardy bell rings and stay there until further instructed by the teacher. 2. Classroom headphones are to stay at their designated stations, NO EXCHANGING HEADPHONES 3. iPads are to be fully charged upon arrival 4. Students will respect designated class time to work on assignments Consequences: 1. First Offense = Verbal Warning 2. Second Offense = One-on-one discussion 3. Third Offense = Written Warning a. Warning sent home (requires parent signature) b. Parent Call c. Student & Parent Conference 4. Fourth Offense = Discipline Slip a. Meeting with Assistant Principal b. Requires Parent Signature 5.
