What role does money play in your life?
What is money ?
Money is any object or record that
is generally accepted as payment
for goods and services and
repayment of debts.
What is money ?
The main functions of money are
distinguished as: a medium of
exchange; a unit of account; a
store of value; and, occasionally
in the past, a standard of deferred
payment.
What is money ?
Any kind of object or secure
verifiable record that fulfills these
functions can be considered
money.
What is money ?
The money supply of a country
includes currency (banknotes and
coins), and may include bank
money (the balance held in
checking accounts and savings
accounts).
What is money ?
Bank money, which consists only
of records (mostly computerized in
modern banking), forms by far the
largest part of broad money in
developed nations.
What is money ?
Before the development of a
medium of exchange, people
would barter to obtain the goods
and services they needed.
What is money ?
This is basically how it worked:
two individuals each possessing a
commodity the other wanted or
needed would enter into an
agreement to trade their goods.
What does money mean to you?
Some peoples views
 Money is of very little importance. I use money to
buy things simple as that. Some of the things I need,
some I don't. I will not give up my freedom, morals or
beliefs for money.
 Money gives the illusion of power and of happiness.
Too many people play into it.
Some peoples views
 It allows me to purchase goods and services. It does
so by acting as a medium of exchange. The actual
money has little value.
 Yes, it determines social status in a greed based
society. If you want an alternative you have to gather
a group of people with good character and run a
charity driven society. Good luck finding people
willing to participate, though. Greed is very popular.
Some famous quotes
 Money has never made man happy, nor will it, there
is nothing in its nature to produce happiness. The
more of it one has the more one wants.
Benjamin Franklin
 A business that makes nothing but money is a poor
business.
Henry Ford
 It is not the creation of wealth that is wrong, but the
love of money for its own sake.
Margaret Thatcher
English Speaking Club

Here are some thoughts and ideas from participants
of our club:-
Some ideas from the speaking club
 I love money - Money is important in our lives – with
money we can do everything – nowadays everything
costs money without it you cannot do anything and
you can lose your confidence and lose yourself.
Some ideas from the speaking club
 I hate money - it is a necessary evil – without it I
cannot live properly or do the things I want
Some ideas from the speaking club
 I need money
 We use money to pay for our health, medicines, a
doctor, to go to school and gain knowledge
 I really need money badly so I can get the things I
need without asking my parents for the money
 I need money to survive, to buy food, pay my
electricity bill and buy gasoline.
Some ideas from the speaking club
 Money is not important
 I think money is necessary but it isn’t important
 It makes like easier but not important. When I go to
work I can use money to pay for the things I want
and I don’t think about money. I think about my
friends, family, my job.
