Las reglas-Rules
Respect the teacher and each other.
-When someone is speaking, listen. Escuche cuando habla alguien.
-Do your best to be accepting of differences: opinions, style, taste, etc. Acepta las diferencias.
-Be positive. Ser positivo.
-Come prepared to class with homework and materials. Ven preparado/preparada.
-Raise your hand to speak or answer a question. Levante la mano para hablar.
-Do embrace each opportunity to help each other do better. Ayude uno al otro.
-Come for help when you need it, don’t wait until it is too late. Busque el ayuda cuando lo

**Use a pencil on tests and quizzes. No pens are to be used during tests, erasable or not.
***Tests and quizzes written in pen will earn a zero (0) score.
Las metas-Goals
This course is designed to develop skills in the four target areas of foreign language communication:
speaking, reading, listening, and writing comprehension. Students will build vocabulary, work with basic
grammar, and develop an appreciation of the customs and cultures for Spanish-speaking countries and
regions.
Las notas-Grades
Your grades will be determined by the number of points you earn during the marking period divided by
the total number of points possible. Each assessment (homework, quizzes, tests, projects, skits, etc,) will
be worth a specific number of points. Failure to complete any of the assessments will result in a zero for
that assignment.
El trabajo tarde-Late work
Homework is to be completed before class. Anything turned in after homework is checked in class will
be worth half credit. It is your responsibility to turn in work to Señorita Muñoz prior to class if you are
going to miss class for an activity, lesson, meeting, or field trip to receive full credit.

This year, eighth grade Spanish students will begin a comprehensive program designed to meet
the World Language Standards, engage students, and promote their success through meaningful
activities and active practice. Avancemos includes numerous resources which are available to all
students and their families. These include, but are not limited to:
-Avancemos 1-A textbook,
-student workbook,
-online text,
-At Home Tutor,
-comic book,
-games and songs, and
-iPod compatible audio and video downloads.
By accessing classzone.com, students will find interactive activities, flashcards, quizzes, and
more.
Eighth grade Spanish classes meet every day. Students will be responsible for utilizing the
online resources for practice at home. Use of the resources is crucial as it allows students to
proceed at their own pace, receive instant feedback, use games for practice, expand cultural
information, and access the re-teach component if necessary.
Materials Needed for this class: Notebook or loose leaf, 3-ring Binder, dividers, pencil,
highlighter, colored pencils (not required).

**All papers should have a date for convenience.
