This course is designed to develop skills in the four target areas of foreign language
communication: speaking, reading, writing and listening comprehension. Students will
build vocabulary, work with basic grammar and develop an appreciation of the customs
and cultures for Spanish-speaking countries and regions.

Your grade will be determined by the number of points you earn during the marking
period divided by the total number of points possible. Each assessment (homework,
quizzes, tests, projects, skits, etc.) will be worth a specific number of points. Failure to
complete any of the assessments will result in a zero for that assignment.

Homework is to be completed before class. Anything turned in after homework is
checked in class will be worth half credit. It is your responsibility to turn in work to Srta.
Bosma prior to class if you are going to miss class for an activity, meeting or field trip in
order to receive full credit.

This year, eighth grade Spanish students will begin a comprehensive program designed to meet the World
Language Standards, engage students, and promote their success through meaningful activities and active
practice. Avancemos includes numerous resources which are available to all students and their families.
These include, but are not limited to:







Avancemos 1-A textbook,
student workbook,
online text,
At Home Tutor,
comic book,
games and songs, and
Ipod compatible audio and video downloads.
By accessing classzone.com, students will find interactive activities, flashcards, quizzes, and more.
Eighth grade Spanish classes meet every day. Students will be responsible for utilizing the online
resources for practice at home. Use of the online resources is crucial as it allows students to proceed at
their own pace, receive instant feedback, use games for practice, expand cultural information, and access
the re-teach component, if necessary.
