You are required to attend the lab section in which you are enrolled. MISSED
LABS CANNOT BE MADE UP. If you must miss your regularly scheduled lab
it may be possible to attend another lab that I teach (see schedule above)
providing there is room in that section and if I am notified one week in advance.
An absence will be excused if you can provide documentation of the illness, jury
duty, family funeral, etc. or by a letter from the Dean of Student’s office. If you
are absent and unexcused, you will not be given credit for the quiz or lab
work for that week and your final grade will decrease by 5%.
Policies:
No food or drink is permitted in the laboratory.
Bring text and lab book to class every week.
Read the lab exercises before coming to class.
Answer all questions/fill in all blanks in lab book.
Participate in class discussions.
Review previous work, particularly continuing/ongoing exercises before lab.
Clean your work area before you leave.
Turn cell phones and I-pods off while in lab.
Lab Reports:
Laboratory reports are meant as a way for me to assess your understanding of the
laboratory exercise and the principles it demonstrates or illustrates. Each student
is responsible for understanding the principles, techniques and results from each
lab exercise. The lab report will follow the format outlined in Appendix One of
the lab manual. A rubric outlining how points are ascribed will be provided to aid
in the writing of lab reports.

Each person will turn in 3 lab reports. Depending on the lab for the week, one or
two member(s) of each lab group will write up a lab report. You will be graded
on your own lab reports – there are no group grades. Lab reports must be
fully legible, illegible lab reports will not be graded. Most of the lab reports
require a graph and all graphs must be on graph paper or computer generated
to receive any points.
Quizzes:
Lab quizzes will generally be short-answer, fill in the blank or multiple choice
and these will (1) ask you to demonstrate your knowledge of concepts covered in
previous laboratory exercises by asking you to apply knowledge to a new
situation and/or (2) basic concepts to be covered in the laboratory of the day.
Tentatively, quizzes will be administered online via D2L and 15 minutes will be
allowed to take the quiz. Missed quizzes will receive a grade of zero and missed
quizzes CAN NOT be made up.
Grading:
Your lab grade will include evaluations tentatively as follows:

Points will be reported to the lecture instructor as a percent (total of 100) to be
ascribed as indicated in the lecture instructor’s syllabus. It should not be expected
that points are awarded for the minimum expectations of a student; attending and
participating in class. Points may be deducted for routine lack of participation or
cleanliness.
Academic Honesty: Any evidence of any form of academic dishonesty makes you subject to the
Student Academic Disciplinary Procedures as outlined in the Student Disciplinary
