Bailey (jeff.bailey@wcdsb.ca; 621-4050 ext. 635) Course Type: University Prerequisite: SBI3U Course Description: This course provides students with the opportunity for in-depth study of the concepts and processes that occur in biological systems. Students will study theory and conduct investigations in the areas of biochemistry, metabolic processes, molecular genetics, homeostasis, and population dynamics. Emphasis will be placed on the achievement of detailed knowledge and the refinement of skills needed for further study in various branches of the life sciences and related fields. Students taking junior Essential/Applied Science courses and the senior Workplace courses will be required to write a 76 minute exam (along with possible additional earlier culminating activities). All other Science courses (both junior and senior) will be required to write a two hour examination. Students who have incomplete summative evaluations and/or culminating activities in the course and/or those not achieving the credit at the end of the semester will be required to attend a credit rescue period during the examination schedule to complete and demonstrate overall or missing expectations for the course or prepare for alternate remediation.
