Job Purpose
To operate in a safe and efficient manner to meet all customer, service and quality standards. To maintain high standards of food safety, Good Manufacturing Practice, hygiene and productivity. You will be required to provide cover for the Despatch shift managers.

Health & Safety
To follow safety procedures as written by Allied Bakeries including risk assessments, SOPS, correct wearing of PPE and other specific safety instructions relevant to the task being undertaken.
To demonstrate safety first through following guidelines, interpreting the requirements of Health & Safety by ensuring compliance with all statutory regulations and legislation.
To report Hazards, near misses and faults to the appropriate person to assist in the prevention of accidents.
Cost
To assist in reducing the costs associated with the despatch department in respect to efficient despatching, loading/ unloading, etc.
Quality
To ensure the product leaves the despatch meeting the product quality specifications (i.e code control, undamaged product, wrapped and sealed to spec)
To maintain the desired standard of cleanliness by completing all the required cleaning tasks.
To carry out Clean as You Go procedures up to and including deep cleaning as appropriate.
Service
To operate in an effective and efficient manner to meet all customer expectations, and departmental deadlines.
People
To operate within a flexible team and attend team briefings, supporting colleagues when required to ensure good team dynamics and the sharing of Good Manufacturing Practices.

Key Accountabilities
To take responsibility for moving product into the appropriate areas safely, efficiently and ensuring quality is not harmed.
To process waste product in accordance with site’s environmental management systems and procedures.
To continually review the despatch process, seeking cost saving ideas whilst maintaining the full utilisation of materials and equipment.
Demonstrate your responsibilities in adhering to ABSS standards and actively contribute to these standards, respecting internal and external audits.
Follow all instructions, guidance and training given at all times, sharing best practice through cross functional working and adopting what is learnt into the daily routine/role.
To contribute as part of a team in assisting to meet the departments Key Performance Indicators and to act outside of the daily schedule and focus on areas for improvement.
To record relevant process data and ensure due diligence in accordance with Company Procedures.
To provide cover for the Despatch shift managers.
To identify and communicate any food safety or environmental issues with Management and other team members.
To ensure individual compliance with all legislative, statutory and Company regulations regarding Health &
Safety.
To share knowledge and/or best practice with other team members and supervisors.
To ensure any ideas for improvement are communicated to the relevant manager.
To maintain high standards of cleaning, housekeeping and adhere to “Clean As You Go”
Additional Accountabilities
To be flexible as mobility of labour and interchangeable skills are required for this role.
To assist in conducting Risk Assessments, Standard Operating Procedures, Planned General Inspections,
Behavioural Safety Observations.
Train and support peers to achieve their full working capability.
Provide constructive feedback to colleagues.
Decision Making Authority
Authority to stop any process and action / remediate in the event of Serious quality or food safety issues,
Serious Health and Safety issues and serious equipment failure or imminent equipment failure.
Authority to manage labour as required (i.e. delegate tasks, manage breaks etc).
Additional responsibilities
To be involved in longer term planning through regular communications days.
Identify and follow through improvement opportunities looking for best practices.
To work with the support teams to build on and implement improvement ideas.
To participate in the day to day planning through team performance meetings.

Essential
Experience of working in Despatch/Warehouse
Computer literate (Outlook, Word and Excel) and have the ability to learn Allied Bakeries in-house software
Demonstrable ability to achieve NVQ Level 2 or equivalent
An ability to achieve Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (CIEH or equivalent)
Desirable
Experience in a supervisory or leadership role
Hold a current FLT licence
Previous FMCG experience
Understanding of Continuous Improvement techniques
Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (CIEH Level 2)
IOSH qualification or equivalent
