JUNE 15, 2014 THE MOST HOLY TRINITY EX 34:4B-6, 8-9 2 COR 13:11-13 JN 3:16-18 (164) CONGRATULATIONS ST. JOSEPH’S! Dear Fr. McGuire, Congratulations to you and St. Joseph Parish in Greenwich Village on exceeding your 2014 Cardinal’s Annual Stewardship Appeal goal! I am pleased to share that we are once again on track to reach our $20 million goal. This would not be possible without your leadership and effort. “Having come down in a cloud, the Lord stood with Moses there and proclaimed his name, ‘Lord.’ Thus the Lord passed before him and cried out. ‘The Lord, the Lord, a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger and rich in kindness and fidelity.’ Moses at once bowed down to the ground in worship. Then he said ‘If I find favor with you, O Lord, do come along in our company.’” The authors of Exodus writing so long ago, teach us today of the beautiful relationship Moses enjoyed with God. Even with so many difficulties and frustrations, Moses expressed total dependence on God who is described as merciful and kind, slow to anger and rich in kindness. As I acknowledge these revealed attributes, it allows me to approach God with great confidence and assurance. I know He shows mercy to all, including myself. I know He is gracious as He welcomes me into His company and takes me under His wings. I know He does not get angry, even when I disappoint Him. I know He is faithful to His promises. If I am truly convinced of this reality my prayer should begin as did that of the great lawgiver ‘If I find favor with you O Lord, do come along in our company’. What a wonderful mantra as I pause to pray each day, for I believe He does find favor with me. ‘Hail oh highly favored one…’ I too wish to enjoy such a relationship with my God. Use the paperless way to help our ministry. In today’s first reading, Moses invites God to accompany the people whom he describes as “stiff-necked” and in need of God’s pardon. In the second reading, St. Paul tells the Corinthians to mend their ways. In the Gospel, St. John assures us that God loves us despite out faults and, to prove it, sent Jesus to save us. God only asks one thing: that we believe. Thus, let us ask ourselves: Do I believe? How might I mend my ways? Using St. Paul’s advice, do I need to encourage others more, be more agreeable, live more peacefully? Let’s give it a try. * * * * HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! * FEAST DAYS, SCRIPTURES, CITATIONS & SPECIAL INTENTIONS SUPPORT THE DWELLING PLACE Please support the Franciscan Sisters of Allegheny who run The Dwelling Place Shelter for Homeless Women by buying their fundraising raffle tickets after all masses. The raffle tickets are the signature annual fundraiser for The Dwelling Place. The Sisters goal is to raise $50,000 in this effort! The Dwelling Place does not receive government funding, therefore all monies raised will benefit the running of the organization, a meal program and a shelter program. The daily meal program is for the women in the shelter, they are fed 3 meals a day including snacks. Once a week, the Sisters also host an open meal program available to all women to come and eat a good meal. Your donation also provides heating costs, in essence, a warm place for the women to live. Please be generous with your support! THE CELEBRATION OF BAPTISM Beginning July 1st, Baptisms at St. Joseph’s Church will be celebrated on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month at 1pm.
