CORE DUTIES
Chief Administrative Office (CAO)
oAs outlined in the Municipal Act, 2001 section 229:
 (a) exercising general control and management of the affairs of the
municipality for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective
operation of the municipality
oAs outlined in By-Law 2014-94:
 The Chief Administrative Officer, subject to the control of and
responsibility to the Mayor and Council, shall have general supervision
and oversight of all departments and officials under control of Council;
 The Chief Administrative Officer shall have full control and direction of
all Municipality of Town of Amherstburg employees;
 The Chief Administrative Officer shall advise Council and direct staff in
accordance with all applicable policies , rules, professional standards,
regulations and legislation.

Executive Assistant to the CAO
oCalendar management and scheduling for the Chief Administrative Officer
and the Mayor;
oReceive, develop and respond to correspondence and emails received by
the CAO office;
oPreparation of Senior Management Team meeting agenda and minutes;
oAssist in the development and tracking of the budget;
oCoordinate the part-time Customer Service staff, including scheduling and
training;

Municipal Governance
As outlined in the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O., section
228(1):
a)To record, without note of comment, all resolutions,
decisions and other proceedings for Council;
b)If required by any member present at a vote, to record
name and vote of every member voting on any matter
or question;
c)To keep the originals or copies of all by-laws and of all
minutes of the proceedings of the Council;
d)To perform the other duties under this Act or under any
other Act;
e)To perform other such duties as assigned by the
municipality.
