College of Education Reorganization and Department of
Science and Mathematics Education Merger
Executive Summary:
This proposal intends to do 2 things:
1. Currently, the Department of Science and Mathematics Education is in
the College of Science. This proposal intends to move it to the College of
Education.
This creates synergy, particularly in the badly-needed STEM education
areas.
2. At the same time, the College of Education intends to reorganize as a
“college of the whole”, meaning it is eliminating its department structure.

College of Education Reorganization and Department of

Issues: The only question was how budget would flow from the old
organization to the new one. This was addressed quite nicely in the MOU.

Innovation Management, BS/BA, Double Degree
Executive Summary:
This proposal outlines a new 36-credit BS/BA double-degree designed
specifically for non-business majors.
The goal is to use this program to help close the “talent gap” in domain
areas such as Engineering, Forestry, Agriculture, and Design and Human
Environment.

Graphic Design BFA
Executive Summary:
Currently, the Graphic Design program offers a BFA degree with an option
in Graphic Design. This proposal intends to terminate that option and
create a new BFA degree in Graphic Design.
This is consistent with what other programs of similar strength around the
country have done. As the letters of support indicate, having an option
instead of a degree puts our Graphic Design graduates at a competitive
disadvantage.
This change should also allow the program to achieve accreditation from
the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.

Graphic Design BFA
Impacts to Students: Only good. No courses are changing. The
program requirements themselves are not changing. The students will
receive a more-marketable (and more consistent with what they have
done) BFA in Graphic Design instead of an option.
Budget Impacts: Small.
