THE LIGHTNING THIEF
Introduction
The book that I chose was The Lightning Thief. The author of this
story was Rick Riordan. The characters that are in this story are
Percy Jackson and Gruber. Percy is Poseidon’s son. He is also a halfblood and he had a mom who died. Grover is part human and part
goat. Grover likes to eat plastic cans. Finally, Annabeth is a girl
that likes a boy and is a smart girl. The story is about Percy Jackson
who doesn’t know that he is a half blooded kid and that he is one of
three gods that the underworld monsters want to kill.
Setting
The story takes place in New York City in 2009. The weather is
stormy with thunder and lightning. It also takes place in a camp for
half-blooded human, and for the heroes, which are the sons of the gods.
In the camp, is where kids practice how to sword fight. There they also
have tutors to help them get better at fighting with swords and
against monsters.
Plot
The Lightning Thief Is about a boy named Percy Jackson who doesn’t
know that he’s a half blooded and a hero. His father is a god named
Poseidon who fell in love with Percy‘s mom. Percy goes to a camp for
half blooded people and heroes who are sons of the gods. The heroes
there get special cabins. They get special cabins because they are sons
of the gods, meanwhile the half blooded get old cabins that reek and
the floor creaks. Percy doesn’t know that he is a hero and that his dad
is a god. Percy meets a girl named Annabeth who was in the camp for
seven years {she came at the camp when she was 7 years old}, then
both of them went to explore the camp and met Grover. Grover who is
part human and part goat, was Percy’s guardian in the sixth grade.
Percy meet a teacher how is part human and part horse his name
is Chiron how showed him the camp . These characters are
important to the story because they sort of tell you there
characteristics and there mood and tone. In the begin of the story
Percy Jackson introduce himself to the reader and also introduce
Grover to the reader. Percy Jackson is a kid who doesn’t like to see his
mother suffer. In the middle of the story Percy Jackson meet Grover
who was looking over him in sixth grade and Percy never know
that Percy only know Grover as a best friend in sixth grade. Percy
and his mom went to the beach where it was a nice afternoon. In the
night in started to rain with lightning. All of a sudden the door of
the room {the hotel} open and there was a shadow standing there in
front of the door. Percy mom woke up and know that they were in
danger in the beach and Percy, mom, Grover ran to the car and
Percy mom drove into a tunnel that was dark and Percy could hear
creepy noises then when he saw a shadow following them the shadow
catch up to the car and be for you know the answer to a math problem
the shadow hit the car and the car flip and landed on top and
Percy mom told him to leave her and take Grover while Grover said
need food but Percy told his mom that he was not going to live her
here in the car. Percy told his mom to help him pick up Grover and
take him to the hill. Percy and his mom where close to the hill when
the monster sniff the car the monster
Mood and Tone
The felling that I got when I read this story was scared, confusion and
in the middle was anger and wish that I was Percy son of the god
Poseidon. The mood of the story is anger, sadness, confusion, scared
all mood of the story. In the light thief Percy goes on a quest with
Annabeth and Grover who protect Percy on the quest to find Zeus
master bold and Hedes helmet. Zeus get mad because he dozen have
his master bold also helmet want his helmet were his a god of the
underworld.
Characters
The two main characters that I will talk about is Percy Jackson and
Annabeth. Percy likes to upset the god Hedes and is a rebel against
him. Annabeth is a girl that is shy and likes a boy who is her friend.
She is a leader and always has a plan. When she is in action she
always knows when to move or when to take action, especially when
she’s in a quest. Percy and Annabeth are friends how help each other
in the quest[beside Grover].
Conflict Resolution
The major problem in this story is when Zeus lost his light bold
and blame Poseidon for the lightning bolt also
another problem is when Hades didn’t find his
helmet and send this creature to the above them and
they find Percy and try to kill him. They solve the
problem by telling the thruth
Theme
I think author wrote this book to express his felling. I think the
theme is never judge a person just because there bad. I the lesson of
the story is never call someone a friend with out knowing him.
Personal Reflection
What I felt when I read this story was anger, sadness, confusion
because in the begin confusion also I n the part middle anger and
at the end sadness.
Conclusion
