Goal The goal of Hyde Park Green is to provide eco-friendly clothing in natural fabrics for babies, children, men, and women, and cruelty-free beauty, hair care, and skin products. Since 2008, the company has also included nontoxic home products in its retail offerings. Company Philosophy The Hyde Park Green philosophy is founded on three principles: We are dedicated to bringing natural, competitively priced products to market, putting the customer’s and the planet’s needs first, and remaining true to the ideals of an ecological, sustainable market. Hyde Park Green has grown from a small storefront in a strip mall to a solar-powered center that demonstrates our commitment to sustainability and green building products. Our goal is to continue to grow without substantially increasing our carbon footprint.1 Organization Hyde Park Green, LLC, is organized as a cooperative with a professional management team and store personnel. Special Events This year, Hyde Park Green initiated a series of exhibits and workshops to help people reduce their impact on the environment and make healthier purchasing and lifestyle decisions. 2010 Workshops Hyde Park Green is sponsoring workshops on the first Saturday of the month from 10:30 to 11:30 p.m. Last month, Donna Jackson taught customers and members how increasing energy efficiency and conservation investments can pay future dividends. People attending workshops receive a coupon for 10% off any purchase at Hyde Park Green. Following is a sample of other workshops planned this year. The festival showcases hundreds of green businesses and features speakers, a fair-trade pavilion, yoga demonstrations and classes, a kid’s planet, live music, and organic dining.2 Hyde Park Green Boutiques As a way to expand our business without harming the environment, Hyde Park Green has opened small boutiques in larger department stores in the Austin area. Some natural food outlets have also expressed interest in hosting a boutique at their locations. Sales Forecast This has been an excellent year of growth for Hyde Park Green. Our retail sales have increased by an impressive 32%, due mainly to boutique and online expansion.
