TROY UNIVERSITY MASTER SYLLABUS SORRELL COLLEGE OF BUSINESS MGT 4440 Developing and Leading Effective Teams Prerequisites Pre-Business Core Description An in-depth study of team development and team leadership in the work setting focused to better understand team functions under varying task conditions. Special emphasis will be placed on the leadership of work teams in both face-to-face and virtual settings for effective performance and member satisfaction. This course deals extensively with maintenance and task behaviors of team members. Student Learning Outcomes On completion of the course, the student should be able to: 1. Identify and define the stages of team development. 2. Describe the characteristics of high-performance teams. 3. Identify and describe essential behaviors of the team leader and team members in developing work teams into high performance teams. 4. Evaluate the structural dimensions and enabling context of effective team functioning. 5. Discuss the concept of emotional intelligence and its role in team performance and leadership. 6.
