Working Experience
1.
Contract Administration Assistant, Dancom TT&L Industries (M’sia)
(June’ 10 – Dec’ 10)
It was a six month contract work as an administration assistant in a telecommunication and
IT provider corporation. In this position, I was required to process customers’ data by
keeping the online database updated from time to time, generate a sales report at the end of
the week and answer calls to assist customers should they have any further enquiries. As an
administration assistant in this short period, I have attained good and ethical communication
skills. Besides, I am now more adaptable to work in a fast-paced working environment as I
need to update the online database efficiently to provide the latest information for
management. I managed to learn that good time management is crucial, knowing that work
is endless but we can prioritize at work according to importance.
2.
Personal Tutor, M’sia (March’ 07 – Feb’ 12)
a) Part-time home tuition (June’ 09 – Feb’ 12)
b) Forest Tuition Centre (March’ 07 – June’ 09)
I worked as a tutor ever since I started my diploma course at Disted College in order to make
ends meet for my living expenses. Due to limited access of funds for education, I learnt to be
independent and capable by myself. My students’ age ranged from primary school to
secondary school and it is a one-to-one basis for home tuition. As a tutor, I set practical
exercises for my students and thus explained the text to them when they encounter
difficulties in understanding the subject. My job was also to guide them towards a more
effective way in order achieve better results in exam. Nevertheless, I have observed their
progress now and then to make sure I know them better. In this job, valuable qualities such
as punctuality, responsibility, reliability, good practice of patience and being observant were
further developed in me. I have also come to realise that my efforts will not go to waste when
I give in my best while taking up a commitment. The driving passion behind this job was the
satisfaction I get from my students when they achieve better results under my supervision.
3.
Part-time Sales Assistant, M’sia (Jan’ 07 – Jan’ 12)
-
Different venue for each road show and event on weekends and college holidays (PC
fair, Game Event, LG road show, Bridal event, Nescafe road show, F&N roadshow,
Astro road show and etc.)
During weekends and college holidays, I constantly worked as a part-time sales assistant for
target-driven events and road shows. Most of the events required good negotiating and
communication skills as I had to sound convincing while promoting in the events. Due to
their pay was performance based, I had to be persistent in my efforts in order to obtain
higher sales revenue for better pay. Example of such an event was Pikom Pc Fair, whereby
my job was to promote the products, explain the details while dealing with customers.
Besides that, I need to handle the block display and cleanliness to make sure the products
are well and nicely displayed in a tidy way. In the event, several sales teams are put to be in
charge of different products. Hence, I had to assist my sales manager by working in teams
which reflect my personal development in team working. It was a hands on experience of
working in a real world, where I need to be socially aware and be co-operative in a team,
thus consistently being trained to adapt in a demanding working environment.

1.
Completed my Diploma in Business while working as part-time tutor and sales
assistant to earn my living expenses
As mentioned above, I am more independent and tougher as an individual by now. Through
hard work, perseverance and determination, I have managed to successfully complete my
studies with excellent results. The key to success is to be wise and keep my focus, knowing
that no matter what, if ‘there is a will, there is a way’. The difference lies between to be or not
to be, to do or not to do.
2.
Being a patrol leader for ranger girl guide during secondary school
I was the patrol leader for rangers Girl Guide movement, consequently I was in charge of a
group of students in form 4 and form 5. A meeting is held on a weekly basis and in
conjunction with the meeting, some activities are organised during the meeting. This
magnificent journey as a patrol leader has given me a priceless experience in managing and
leading people by example. I conscientiously allowed myself to be approachable at all times
for the others. I have learnt to look forward and plan ahead by assessing the pros and cons,
do’s and don’ts while catering towards the needs and achievement of the girl guides in the
movement.
3.
Being a treasurer for sports club during secondary school
I calculated the fund received accurately and precisely before passing it to the teacher-incharge. Given such a position, I bear all responsibilities thus making me a more reliable and
responsible person. In this context, I learnt to gain trust from both students and teachers. I
believe this quality will be essential when working in the Central Bank of Malaysia.
